Medieval and Renaissance music of Mediterranean countries performed on period instruments.
The Austin Troubadours are getting ready to record their first CD - "Mediterranean Journey" The album will feature Medieval and Renaissance music of Italy, Spain, France and Balkan countries, played on period instruments. We will record Italian monophonic dances from the "British Library" Manuscript, "Cantigas De Santa Maria" from a collection attributed to Spanish king Alfonso El Sabio, French Renaissance dances from Attaingnant editions, and a few of the oldest examples of songs and dances from Serbia and Macedonia.
We will recreate the spirit and sounds of Medieval Mediterranean, a place where many civilizations met, a place of migrations, wars, prosperity, large empires and rich trade.
