Direwild is a 1-4 player game where player's assume the role of Animists, heroes that can summon forth creatures great and small to aide them in battle. These heroes must band together and defeat minions across several lands in order to ultimately defeat a fallen member of their own order, Karn.

Direwild has been meticulously designed, and is 100% finalized and ready for the public! Direwild features beautiful art from the masterful Kelly Goodine. His credits include Marvel Comics and Bioware! As with any Kickstarter worth their salt, we have our manufacturing and shipping all ready and waiting!
Our design was solidified a few years back, and we have been playtesting the game since, with about 300 playtests done at various gaming conventions!
- A completely co-operative adventure. No dungeon master! All the players must operate as a team to overcome the game.
- A strategic deckbuilding experience that allows the players many avenues to spend their currency outside of simply "buying a card, putting it in my discard"
- A creature crafting system that takes the animals a hero summons each turn and forms them into a unique creature to bring into battle!

- 5 clans with unique male and female heroes on either side, bringing together 10 playable heroes, each with their own synergies and strengths
- The dungeon crawling aspect that has the heroes move tactically around the board, using the land and walls to their advantage, getting the jump on enemies, and picking up treasure.

- A save system that allows you to put your hero's deck in a deckbox and save your campaign over multiple game nights
- Massive replayability.The minions, creatures, treasures, and clan mixes will dramatically vary every game, so the experience is always fresh and new strategies must be developed.
- Dynamic options and inter-player turn interaction allows players to make tactical choices, but restricts any player from calling all the shots.

The land of Direwild has always been hostile.
All the creatures found here can be deadly in their own right. The tenuous balance between creatures and humans are maintained through the powers of ancient tribal animists. These animists commune with the creatures of Direwild, creating a symbiotic relationship between the human clans and their environments.
While the tribes lived in harmony with the Direwild, they were constantly at war with one another. One such war led to the annihilation of a complete tribe with the only remaining survivor being a young animist in training, Karn. This animist, overcome with loss and hatred, sought to end the tribal warfare by ruling the Direwild. Karn left his home and relentlessly sought out ways to push the limits of his powers, embracing the dangerous dark arts, untouched by other animists. In this pursuit of dominance, Karn sacrificed any sense of his previous humanity. His mind was slowly corrupted, and his goals transitioned from ruling the Direwild to destroying it. The creatures he communes with have been warped and distorted into dangerous minions. They in turn roam the land, further ravaging the Direwild.
Brimming with newfound power, Karn began hunting and destroying any potential rival animists. Desperate, the remaining clans formed an alliance, gathering their few remaining animists to work together in an attempt to defeat Karn. The creatures of the land, instinctively realizing that their fate is interwoven with these heroes, allow the animists to call on them to aid in the fight. The heroes journey will take them through lands scourged by Karn’s minions, with the goal of defeating them and weakening Karn’s power. The heroes must work quickly, because spending too much time clearing the lands could allow Karn to hunt them down and destroy them before they are strong enough to stand a chance!
These miniatures are so awesome
Due to a huge amount of fan feedback, we are designing the miniatures for all 10 heroes, Karn, and the 4 minion totems - that's 15 miniatures! We have an accomplished miniature artist Michael Jenkins making some truly awesome miniatures! His credits include: Blood Rage, Rising Sun, Warmachine, Hordes, Undercity, Widower's Wood, Level 7: Invasion, Banner Saga: Warbands, The Others: 7 Sins,Clash of Rage, Outlive, and Dark Souls. We are super lucky to be working with such a talent!
Miniatures are not required to play the game, and the game comes with 2d standees and bases that you can use in the adventure.

What if I want to add miniatures to my Standard Game later?
No problem. If you want to turn a Standard game into a Premium game later, we will have an add-on to upgrade. When the campaign ends, just add the "Miniatures Upgrade" in the Pledge Manager. Keep in mind if you have the Premium game already we cannot sell you additional miniatures nor can we sell the miniatures only.

Each round starts with the Game Phase, in which the AI controls all enemy actions
After this phase is over, players will pick turn order and then all draw 5 cards.
In the Summon Phase each player will take turns playing all the cards in their hand. Any creature with an action will perform that action when their card is played.
In the Charm Phase each player counts up the Charm generated by their cards and uses it to purchase creatures and unlock upgrades for the team. They then take the cards they played and create a single creature!
In the Battle Phase each player takes their creature and moves around the board, collecting treasure and attempting to defeat enemies in battle!
Then all players discard their played cards and begin a new round

Purchasing either of these add-ons will award you with 2 free promo puppy cards!
These promo cards will not be part of the normal game or a KS exclusive, the only way to get them is to get an add-on (even the dice). These pups do not change the game in any way, they just have unique artwork and would just be used to replace one of the other stock pups.
If enough people order the insert add-on (150+) we can reduce the price even further ($19.99). I will keep you updated of the amount of people that pledged the insert so we can keep a count.
Shipping is an interesting monster, and we considered the best method that is the most accurate and fair. Due to the nature of Kickstarter, it is hard to know the final cost of shipping until all the stretch goals have been tallied and final weight can be considered. Rather than taking a guess, we plan to accurately charge for shipping after the campaign ends during the pledge manager. We will then charge you based on your location and weight of the final order. We have partnered with Ship Naked to handle fulfillment for Direwild. Because of this, we are happy to offer Worldwide Customs Friendly Shipping. Risks and challenges
I have been part of Kickstarter teams that have developed many products, but this is the first time I am running all aspects of the Kickstarter. I of course have contacts from my career that have thus far made the design process go very smooth, and I have been very active in mitigating risks for the production side of the equation. As of now, I have samples coming in from my factories, and will be ahead of the curve when the Kickstarter ends.
I have worked in miniature development before and I am happy to have Michael Sculptor on my team, an experienced miniatures creator who is very practiced at developing tool safe sculpts that should make the path from CAD to parts smooth.
As far as fulfillment goes, I am working with Ship Naked to take care of all my shipping and customs problems. Their experience has already proven invaluable with regards of saving money in the shipping pipeline.
I have had a ton of experience manufacturing overseas, and the biggest obstacle will always be timing when it comes to manufacturing in China. As a product designer, I have manufactured many products and even visited a few of the factories I will be using. I hope to mitigate any risk by having several factories that have overlapping capabilities in case one cannot produce results. As they say, don't put all your eggs in one basket.
The game is 100% finished. We have been blind testing it at conventions for about 1 year now and things are rock solid. The stretch goal content has not been completely worked out, but the large majority of the gameplay impacts (new creatures and new minions) have been calculated and only need flavor.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
