We need support to pay fees for all our performers, collaborators, students and community members this special show will be working with. In total our show will feature the dozen members of Mix'd Ingrdnts, four community performances groups opening the shows, and our students and interns who will be included in the performances. We will be working with an amazing group of community and collaborators that will feature more than 30 performers at each performance! Funds raised through this Kickstarter campaign will help us to cover the total costs of this our first full length show.
Through ticket sales, benefit events, select sponsorship and successful Kickstarter fundraising- we can reach our goal to touch nearly 1,000 folks through all these events, culminating with our first full length production "Breaking the Silence."
Please support and be part of this effort to share Oakland's own all female, mixed styles dance crew's mission "to empower women to empower themselves.
Risks and challenges
We know that there are risks to everything in life. One of the reasons we started this group- to challenge the idea of what is possible for women- we started an all female dance collective. We know that each challenge is not always able to be accomplished, but it is all about "attitude". We are fully confident in ourselves as a group of beautiful, smart, strong, talented and resourceful women, that we will get through all obstacles, together.
We each individually have our own communities for support and know from experience this year, that what you put in, is what you get out. We believe so strongly that if we manifest something we really want, that it is going to happen. We also have great belief in the power of community and cultural movements. We believe we have things- ideas, teachings, stories, creations- to offer our community and that there is a need for these offerings.
We also have been planning the necessary steps for this leap into a full length show and into our greater ambitions. As part of that preparation we have planned several steps along the way leading up to the production to support this expansion and build momentum. We have been creating this show with several key collaborators and collaborator groups, three times the amount of personnel we normally work with on a show. Again our belief in the power of community comes through in our programming. We feel we are arming ourselves with a large and diverse enough group of collaborators and community groups to help reach the necessary communities to participate and support this project as tickets buyers and more. We feel the outreach of this larger number of collaborators will bring in an increase to our previous audience numbers, which will help us address a solid portion of our budget needs. Along with our scheduled benefit events, in addition to this Kickstarter campaign, we feel up to the challenge of reaching new heights, both in fundraising and in community building.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
