SNIP: A Short Film
When Lucie, a young queer woman, is abducted and trapped, she does does everything she can to escape and fight back. Knowing that the man who abducted her is a sexual predator, Lucie decides to take matters into her own hands.
Justice is never simple, and revenge isn’t always sweet, but sometimes it just feels right.
It’s no secret that the justice system for sexual assault survivors is unjust and ineffective. Many young people choose not to report assault for they fear that they will vilified for speaking out, and perpetrators often get away with their crimes. SNIP changes the script, changes the narrative of what a woman might, or could do. But in the end, SNIP is a movie, meant to entertain.
On the top 100 grossing films of 2016, women represented 4% of directors, 11% of writers, and 3% of cinematographers. As examined by the Media, Diversity, & Social Change Initiative, when budgets increase, opportunities for female filmmakers decrease.
SNIP needs you! Through funding women-led projects and supporting the making of SNIP, you are helping to support the larger effort of work created by women in the film industry. Let's change those dismal stats!
Risks and challenges
The biggest - and most obvious - risk associated with crowdfunding our project, is that we may not reach the goal that has been set for us to complete our project. We are fully prepared to finish the film and submit it to festivals as soon as possible, however, we really need your support so we can get this fun feminist short out there!
