WHO WE ARE...
VIAPERFORMANCE started out as a two man company, back in 2010.
Original founders Kiran Tanna and Rich Wade are now the company's director-producers, building teams of young artists and entrepreneurs who work together to create amazing things on shoestring budgets.
Our shows have ranged from huge works in public spaces to intimate one man shows, and we've also curated a few performances disguised as absurd parties and underground raves...
We have a real drive to create super-cool, unusual and increasingly ambitious work, using new and innovative technologies, processes and creative strategies. We also aim to create new jobs on a local and regional level, for young people working in the arts.
Over the last twelve months VIAPERFORMANCE have grown dramatically, recruiting over twenty part timers and temps; a team who have now performed at festivals in the UK, Europe, Canada and Australia.
We've had some pretty big commissions too, including three shows at top ten listed European arts festivals and one piece, specifically designed and televised as part of The Grand Depart at the Tour de France.
Most of our work is designed and launched from our studios in York.
This kickstarter is our way of opening up the funding and decision making process to the public. Our large and ambitious works are almost always free to attend, set in public spaces or located at public festivals, so we rely heavily on festival commissions, donations, subsidies and smaller, commercial projects run by our production team... We believe that art should be as free as possible, and we want to make use of crowd-funding like this to support that ideal!
So if you've got a bit of spare change you'd like to put to good use, we'll turn it into some of the weirdest and most wonderful artwork out there, and we'll create jobs for young people too. You'll be supporting the arts in one of the most exciting ways possible, and we'll be eternally grateful for your help. It will help us to fund match with other commissions, our commercial partnerships and with future funding bids with Arts Council England. On top of that, we're offering a range of rewards for your support!
Risks and challenges
There are always going to be risks with this sort of work, but we've never faced anything we've not been able to overcome.
We're committed, dedicated and passionate about what we do, and we are set on making your donations into something the likes of which has never been seen before, on a scale that only you can make possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
