Power Of PS1 launch Trailer
An introduction to Jonathan Beales:Power Of PS1 Producer-Publisher
Gaming Ingredients direct from the kitchen table:A simple video,no special effects, make up or clever editing.Just the facts.
I've worked in the video games business for nearly 30 years & wanted to share my background from 1986 to the present day.
Having vast experience in television, film, media & publishing combined with modern global digital production methods,it's been possible to keep the Kick Starter target very low. It's important that this film & book are produced & published so we'll be in a position to share a really great story.
The trailer & videos look a little grainy as we've had to crunch them down into the los-res 640x480 KickStarter format.
The film, book & perks will all be made to the highest quality.
Both the trailer & introduction video feature archive footage from the 1990's.We have an archive of 5 hours unseen professionally shot video footage.
Documentary:POWER OF PS1
The film tells the story of an incredible decade which saw Sony come from nowhere to become the most important console formats of the 1990’s.
PlayStation was launched in 94/95 but our story begins in Liverpool England April 1990 where we interviewed Psygnosis boss Ian Hetherington. In an era of 16 Bit gaming the company chief correctly predicted the success of the CD platform & general emergence of evolving hardware.
A host of leading PS1 games developers, journalists & industry experts describe the incredible journey of PlayStation’s rise to the top from the early years before launch, the console hardware and the rich variety of games which appeared from 1994 to 1999.
In-depth coverage & insight into how the great legacy games were created including Tekken,WipEout,Resident Evil,Crash Bandicoot,Tomb Raider,Rayman,Final Fantasy VII,Metal Gear Solid,Ridge Racer & Grand Theft Auto.
The people who crafted these brilliant games tell us their fascinating stories about the incredible new opportunities that PlayStation presented & why they're still loved today.
There is also full technical analysis of Sony’s hardware and the revolutionary PS1 controller.
The 1990's were a fierce & competitive era for hardware companies as many of the global manufacturers decided to enter the games arena and go head to head with the established order of Sega & Nintendo.
Panasonic,NEC,Goldstar & Philips all launched their respective offerings as CD became the preferred games publishing format.
The journey & film end in 1999 before the arrival of PlayStation 2.This is the Official PlayStation Magazine bus in London 1998.It toured the UK & would spread the word on PlayStation gaming.
After launch PlayStation grew, new gaming genres evolved and Nintendo arrived with their own 3D console the N64.Global games development continued to grow and with it came the casualties who couldn't manage, handle or afford the evolution to 3D after having produced so many successful lower cost 2D games.
The 1990's were a golden era in video gaming and may of the concepts & genres created 20 year ago are still relevant and used in today's current generation of games.
120 Minute Edition An extended cut with more & longer interview sequences & extended scenes.
