The tricky part about the micro-electroplating is the fluctuation of concentration due to the changing consuming rate of material and the accumulated additive dosing over time. To eliminate such a technical barrier for general users, we develop an algorithm and an auto-dosing system to keep the plating performance stable in accordance with the history record and calibration results. With this improved and auto-optimized micro-electroplating, we make every plating experience easy and delighted.

Step 1) Scan QR code
Each product has its own QR code for the system initiation. Scan the QR code of a selected bath, the Orbit App will guide you to the plating procedure or change the bath.
Step 2) Install the object
Fix the object with one of the standard jig and plug into the central cathode. Please notice that the object must be conductive, i.e., copper or items covered by the conductive binder.
Step 3) Setting and tap "START"
The last step is to enter the layer thickness and the amount of surface area. The Orbit1 App will show the material cost and plating time accordingly. If you have no problem with the estimated cost, tap "START" and let the Orbit1 do the rest of jobs. You could stop or interrupt at any time during the process, and the system will summarize the results when the plating is completely terminated.
Make a budget true-metallic 3D print
Tired of the dull looking of plastic 3D print? By using the Orbit1 together with your old 3D printer, your mockup will be elevated to a commercial level right away. How do we do that? The secrete recipe is our proprietary conductive spray. Just apply the conductive spray to the plastic 3D print, heat dry for 5-10 min, and install the part to Orbit1, a metallic coating will be done in a couple of hours.
Another key factor to make a fine finish is the surface treatment before applying conductive spray, since the coating layer literally follows the surface of material. For your reference, therefore, we list the pre-treatment procedure as shown in the table. The purpose of sealing procedure is to spray or brush varnish on the 3D print and seal the gap among layers, while the adhesion layer is to help the conductive paint stick to the 3D print.
One material come with different textures
Most people consider electroplating is just to add a shining look to the object. However, you can actually do much more with the Orbit1.
1) The surface texture controlled by time
Take zinc plating for example. The finish texture changes from matte to shiny bright along the time. You can stop at any moment to decide the exactly texture you need.
Just leave the copper coating in the humid environment for days. It's easy to give a vintage look for your model. Every natural rusty texture is one of a kind.
3) Color spray
Using the transparent color spray on the metal base, the exquisite texture brings the dragon to life.
4) Two toned
It's quite interesting to wipe the paint and reveal the metal finish underneath to create a two-toned effect.

Specialize your product portfolio
The application of Orbit1 is not limited to 3D printing items, it is applicable on plastic or cast as well. It quite convenient for designers to make a rapid prototype and to reveal the final look as a real product.
Even the stone, concrete, gem, shell, coral, wood, or leaf can be plated by applying conductive spray to anywhere you would like to plate on.
For small volume electroplating, i.e., jewelry repair or customized accessory, it is very efficient to finish the whole process in 30 min. Even the electroforming can be done at your studio over night.
You don't need the conductive spray to plate on metal. Instead, the decreasing and acid clean procedures are necessary before plating a metallic piece. Otherwise, the contaminated surface will leave a stain or a spike on the surface. To facilitate the pre-treatment of metal plating, a decreasing function is embedded in every Orbit1.

"Plating Safe" is always the first priority of us. All materials coming with the Orbit1 are compliant with the Reach regulations(EU), certificated by SGS. Meanwhile, the material date sheet(MSDS) is open for download for every customer to select for their application.
Rental / Retrieve Policy
Every region has its own regulations on electroplating and the relevant waste management, and it's always troublesome for most users who don't know where to deliver the chemical waste. Therefore, we offer monthly or one-time rental program of plating bath for the general users. It's not only to ensure the materials will be compulsively retrieve from customers, but also grantee a comprehensive technical support during the program. Meanwhile, our local service centers will subcontract to a the legal waste management company to handle the waste properly.
For safety issues, the Orbit1 won't support any third party chemicals. If user intended to install a third party chemical and mislead the system with incorrect QR code, it would seriously damage the chemicals and machines due to the wrong procedure. Please notice that we reserve all the right to terminate the service once we become aware the customer refuse to return the bath or abuse the chemical for other purposes. The customer should take all the responsibility of their improper use.
Risks and challenges
Orbit1 project is rather a crowd funding campaign than a marketing event. We have verified the beta version and take actions on the preparation for the upcoming manufacturing. However, the delivery time might still be various due to the unexpected delay during manufacturing or certification schedule. Please understand that we will do our best to keep all the backers posted about the status at least once a month.
We provide 1 year warranty for the backers in Taiwan and Hong Kong. However, we can’t provide the same service for the backer who may use this machine in other region for the time being.
Please do not use any material which is not certificated by Pino Aliprandini with the Orbit1. It may damage for both equipment and materials, or even put you in danger. We reserve the right to terminate our service to the customers who abuse the Orbit1 or jeopardize the safety of other people or the environment. The aforesaid customers should take all the responsibility for consequence.
The Orbit1 is designed for testing or small volume prototyping. Please follow the regulations at your region if you would like to use it for frequent manufacturing.
