About this project
The AJ Unstoppable Project is a project ultimately to help motivate kids to go after their dreams.
AJ, is a bird that was a gift to me (David Cota) from entertainer Johnny Carson. I taught AJ amazing tricks, such as to play basketball, golf, and spell his name, and then returned to the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson where AJ revealed all his hard work and his new amazing talents!
AJ has appeared on over 20 national television shows and performed in front of kids at schools and hospitals from Portland, Oregon, to Los Angeles, California, New York City New York, and in Florida. Children and adults all over the world have fallen in love with AJ.
Our most recent AJ project, "Unstoppable! AJ; The Little Bird That Could" is new platform for AJ to reach children and adults all over the world, to continue our mission to inspire and spread positive thinking!
So we sought out to create the best children’s book possible, based on a true story!
AJ's true story is the modern day, "The Little Engine That Could" tale, a proven inspirational and adored storyline by people all over the world. We believe we have a formula that is proven for success!
We found the best illustrator for the project, Dan Sharp, who works for many high profile companies, including Disney. We have invites from all the top shows to take our book back on, once it is complete and ready for distribution.
The funds we receive from Kickstarter are for the completion of the book, including illustrating the remaining pages to be finished in full color (which are already sketched out). Funds will also be used for the development of the book, development of eformats including; Kindle, iPad and more.
David Cota, the entrepreneurial owner of AJ currently oversees multiple companies while pursuing his passion in developing and creating cool products. In 1991 a graduate of San Jose State University who majored in business, business administration and philosophy, as well as a NCAA division 1 tennis player. David brought AJ to the world while still a student. His marketing project still stands as one of the most popular and successful. David went on to pursue his passion of business and marketing at adidas as Director of Tennis, turning a poor market share adidas Tennis into the number 1 market share in 2001, surpassing Nike. David ultimately managed approximately $200M in revenue for adidas, heading up products in tennis, cross training, walking, volleyball, kids and more. David since has gone on to launch businesses in California, Oregon, Florida and more.
Dan Sharp is a writer and illustrator of children’s books who lives in Michigan. He began drawing at age six and was inspired as a child by artist such as Charles Schultz and Normal Rockwell, then went on to study art at Michigan State University where he received his BFA. He’s enjoyed a career of more than twenty-five years and has clients that include Disney, Warner Brothers, Oxford University Press, Scholastic and many others. Like AJ, when Dan sets his mind to a project, nothing will get in his way either, never say die!
Judy Neis and the Neis Group have been serving the publishing industry for over twenty-five years, representing talented artists who together, have amassed a list of published works exceeding five hundred titles, Judy is based in Texas.
Bottom line, David has established a world class team for this project, from Dan Sharp, a world renowned illustrator, to Judy Neis with infinite experiences and knowledge to a prebuilt marketing machine which includes millions of fans on his YouTube channel and invites from the nations largest television shows and more.
This project has all the elements for big time success, amazing illustrations, millions of fans, national television exposure and more, even an AJ doll! Most importantly, the completion of this book will enable us to continue to reach more people, bringing inspiration and encouragement to children and adults, to go after and achieve your dreams.
We really appreciate your consideration and support for our project! We feel we have a huge opportunity to be involved in a children’s best seller.
Thank you for your support!
Risks and challenges
Although we have made great initial progress on the book, there is still a ton of work to do. We have 25+ pages left of the book which need full color illustrations, as you see in the first few pages which are complete. We nearly have the story finalized. This requires specific resources, time and skill!
We will also format the book for download on all applicable e-readers like the iPad, Kindle, Etc. These platforms are new territory for us so there will most definitely be some challenges we are unaware of.
Other tasks include the submissions and formatting for Media (Ex. submitting material, props, to Tonight Show, Martha Stewart, etc) including the warehousing and physical distribution of the books, My Friend AJ dolls, updating website for book distribution and more. Ultimately implementing this multi-faceted project which includes national television appearances.
This funding will allow us to complete the book, story line, illustrations, electronic formatting and implementing. If we exceed our funding goal it will further allow us to create the best possible product and experience for all of our clients and help market, promote and fulfill opportunities to share AJ’s inspirational message to children and people of all ages truly around the world. At completion our book will be read by nearly all sources of distribution, print and electronic, something we are all excited to complete.
Although we know there will be risks and challenges ahead, we are ready to overcome any obstacle & see through the completion of this project!
