I was born with a rare limb difference, and when I was growing up I never saw anyone in comic books who looked like me, so I decided to change that. I created my own superhero comic book called The Unstoppable Cherub. Since then, I've been fortunate to meet other storytellers with other limb differences and disabilities.
Like any good superhero crossover, we decided to join our powers together and create...
Super-Abled Comics is a comic book anthology about superheroes with disabilities, by creators with disabilities, for readers with disabilities, and for anyone else who loves fun, action-packed, superhero comic books!
Inside Super-Abled Comics you will find six stories that were designed or written by a creator with a limb difference, with some help from able-bodied creators.
Our six stories are...
A love letter to 80's Saturday morning cartoons such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Street Sharks, the Chimpanchines is about four cybernetic primates trying to make a living in a galaxy far from Earth.
The Chimpanchines is written by Travis Rivas, drawn by Mauricio Campetella, and colored by Jasen Smith.
One Armed Wonder
One Armed Wonder is about young Damian Daniels who thinks he won’t amount to anything due to his difference (and the way people treat him). When given the opportunity to be “more”, he abuses that power only to realize that he doesn’t need fancy gadgets to be whole. He just needs to believe in his abilities as he is.
One Armed Wonder is drawn and co-written by Brian Marquez, co-written by Kenneth Barr with art assistance by Brady Ann Parham.
Light Dancing in Darkness
A sentient virus takes over, with the goal of eliminating anything different from itself. It’s up to Chiara to use her powers to shine a light and dance in the darkness, to save her country and those closest to her.
Light Dancing in Darkness in written by Sarah Tuberty, drawn by Mauricio Campetella, with colors by Caroline Nolasco
Intent on rebuilding her life after losing her family and two limbs in a tragic accident, Natalie undergoes experimental surgery to receive a bionic arm and leg. With the help of a quirky but brilliant biomechanical scientist, the operation is a success. What she gains, however, is far more than either of them could have expected.
Rebuilt is written by Trace Wilson with art by Sarah Fletcher
The vendetta between Jesse Jensen and his former boss, Esmeralda Blasco, comes to a head as Esmeralda holds Jesse's brother hostage. A year after losing his left hand Jesse emerges as the vigilante, Cobalt. Can Jesse bring down Esmeralda and her cartel, or will he lose everything?
Cobalt is written by Jake Adams with art by Jacob Newell
The Adventures of the One Arm Wondermom
Where do superpowers come from? Do only certain people have access to them? Join Kim “The One Arm Wondermom” on her quest to discover the truth in this edutainment story the whole family can enjoy!
The Adventures of the One Arm Wondermom is written by Kim Stumbo with art by Willie Wofford.

Risks and challenges
When making a comic book, the biggest risk is finishing the artwork. Well, hopefully our previews have shown you that our artwork is practically completed. We're going to wait until the Kickstarter campaign is over before getting our pages print-ready, to make room for any extra pages that may be added between now and when the campaign is finished. This means there's little risk of not getting the books in your hands!
The biggest challenge will be shipping other physical rewards to supporters, but luckily there's money in the budget allocated for just that purpose.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
