Celebrate EarthBound, the Super Nintendo cult classic video game, for a full 365 days with Batter’s Almanac, a beautifully illustrated 2019 wall calendar. Front, back, inside, and out! This calendar was created through a collaboration of artists all around the globe, inspired by one little video game that came out nearly 25 years ago.
This EarthBound-inspired calendar comes complete with original art, wacky holidays (normal ones, too!), and everything you need to stay organized in a fun, humorous, and heartfelt style. Follow along with project development at @battersalmanac on Twitter and help spread the word about this incredible project, designed by fans for fans.
Batter’s Almanac is a yearlong celebration of the SNES sleeper hit, EarthBound. If you haven’t heard of the game, that’s ok! A lot of people haven't. Originally released in 1994 in Japan as MOTHER 2, the game was localized and released stateside under the title EarthBound in 1995. During its initial stateside release, it went a bit underappreciated. Since then it has grown a real hidden gem status, especially in recent years, with its evergreen themes of childhood adventure, satirical Americana, and cute foibles. Inside this twelve month calendar, complete with additional front and back illustrated covers, are lovingly crafted illustrations to inspire your own adventures, and also help you keep track of when National Hotdog Day is. (FYI, it is going to be on July 19 in 2019. Don’t worry, we’ve already marked your calendar for you.)
This is the perfect addition for anyone who’s a fan of the EarthBound series and wants something unique to spiff up their office or bedroom. Actually, this is the perfect addition for anyone who appreciates the arts, celebrates weird holidays, or compulsively buys calendars! You don't have to be a fan of the series to own this piece of coolness. There’s so much love, talent, and skill in each and every illustration this piece contains.
One of the things we suggest you do is that once the year is over, don’t throw this calendar away! Take it apart! Each monthly illustration acts as its own 11” x 8.5” (28cm x 22cm) mini-poster you can hang up and enjoy for all of 2020! (Or at least until you decide you hate art and lack culture, but you wouldn’t do that, would you?)
We're using Kickstarter in order to print the calendar in big batches, making them more affordable for everyone, especially the backers! We want to help support our artists and the community so if we just get in all our orders right now, we'll be able to get a good discounted price that we;ll be able to pass onto you, our backers. Everyone wins, that and we get to post cute promo art and behind-the-scenes stuff!
Each month of the Batter’s Almanac features a new artist, important dates related to the EarthBound/MOTHER series, wacky holidays, the standard US holidays, and space to add your own special reminders. Like when your next dental appointment is! You remembered to make an appointment, didn’t you? We hope so! In the meantime, let’s take a look at the art you’ll find only in this calendar!
The calendar itself is printed by Paragon Press on 80# glossy paper with the cover being 100# glossy. This gives it strength and shininess, like your teeth after that dentist appointment. The calendar when hung on a wall is 11" wide x 17" tall (28cm x 43cm). The calendar is saddle-stitched (for the uninitiated this means it’s bound with tough staples) and already has a hole drilled in it so it’ll be ready to hang as soon as you get it! Fulfillment of all and production of some backer rewards will be done by our friends and partners, The Yetee.
We figured out how to get more than 4 party members on our calendar building quest! Who knew? Read a bit about the artists who joined in on the adventure and whose work you will be supporting:

We do have some Stretch Goals planned but they won't be announced until we've hit at least $10,000 dollars! Which is pretty far away... for now... ;)
Risks and challenges
Every project comes with its own unique risks and challenges. We want you to know that we've done a lot to already mitigate a lot of the problems. This whole Kickstarter is mostly just a presale so that we can order a large shipment of the calendars. We already have all the art, we already have printed proofs made, we already love it. We just need you to help get over that initial part. We don't see any problems and if they do arise, we're prepared to overcome these challenges by being upfront with you all with any changes in our production plan.
We've already partnered with The Yetee to make sure that you guys will get your stuff ASAP and in great shape! The reason why we expect fulfillment in December is that producing the enamel pins will take time. We already have an approved design. we just haven't had it made yet, and that takes time.
We are committed to being upfront and informing you all about any potential hiccups from the very beginning. We are here to help our backers and get them a great calendar!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
