Has this been recompiled to ARM yet? A large proportion of us are waiting for this.. we have the desktop version of vlc on x86

@John Ong: sorry for the crash in the initial beta. We pushed an update yesterday, which is available on the Windows Store right fixing this issue among lots of other bugs. Another update is forthcoming later this week!

This app isn't usable since it crashes on startup on my surface pro. It seems I am one of a handful of donators that's having this problem and wonder if there are any work around to this issue. I understand this is still in beta, but I don't think that even beta stage should perform better than this and I sure this setback is only going to delay the RT version even further.

@SardonicGorilla As they've explained, you cannot get an ARM/Window RT version without going through the process of converting the code to the "Windows RunTime" (WinRT).
The path really is (win32) -> (WinRT x86) -> (WinRT ARM) -> (WinPRT - phone)
You cannot do it in any different order.

Update regarding the ARM version :

To their defense they're not a company as such, just a bunch of blokes coding a really cool tool so i'm grateful for that. But it would only be polite to keep us informed as opposed to the random posts you can find on the PCInpact forums.
I dont get it. Even if it's buggy, just release it as a non-public app, and let the backers feel the love and feel that it was a good thing to give away some money.

I dont get it. Their communication is just so disrespectful. I made quite a big pledge and I really feel I've been ripped off.

I'm with you Greg. Found out by Neowin once again! It would have been nice if they released it to backers at least a few days ahead of time since we've waited OVER A YEAR!!!! I will never support this company ever again.

You should tell microsoft remove from windows 8.1 store all apps that claim to be vlc, or which include vlc or videolan on his name, and that even they hover between the 3 and the 6.99 euros, that should not be allowed.

so i found a little vlc cone shaped piece of ...plastic? maybe? and i don't think that even qualifies as a key chain, much less a key holder. in order to even put it on my keys i would have to go out and BUY another key ring just to put it on, that's not a key holder. and i feel pretty betrayed that over half a year later without showing us any pictures we end up with something like this. That is not business transparency, that's inexcusable.

@mathew what do you mean it is a keychain?! the reward says KeyHolder and any google search would tell you that's something that goes on your wall to hold keys! i don't need another key chain i need to stop losing my keys when I'm not using them. I hope I'm just missing something here

The cone keychain was pretty shoddy, I was kind of expecting chromed metal or something - the kind of thing that at least costs $5 at a convenience store, not a plastic thing I'm embarrassed to put on my keyring.

How about some more updates on progress? What about the Windows 8 Intel store version? Is there any progress on the Windows Phone 8 port?
