Update #20 — Information long overdue
Hi there beautiful people from all around the globe,
An update from us is well overdue, and we apologize for the long delay. We wanted the next update to be the one to announce the new chapter being released in Early Access, but since we're terrible at estimating workloads, here we are again. Let us share with you the reasons why we're late, once again. We'll also share some information about the console versions, since many, many fans have been asking for it.
Also note that development updates have mostly been shared on these mediums:

We want more
The general idea here, for brevity, is that we've added content that wasn't initially planned to be in the upcoming chapter.
Nothing new here, when we've got new ideas which we believe are great, we're going all in, and it happened again.
When we released Lucy's chapter in early access, we were stoked at how positive the response was from the players, especially knowing that the chapter had some small, but important content cuts that diverged the game from what we initially wanted it to be. If I had to put it in a few words, I would say that Lucy's chapter feels too linear. If you remember the initial concept (from the Kickstarter campaign), we had put a lot of focus on the game being different with every playthrough. With Lucy's chapter, there are definitely some key elements that differs from every player's playthrough, but to some extent.
Our initial ideas to make the game feel different with every playthrough had proved to be extremely time consuming, so we had to cut on them, but this time around, after digesting all this awesome feedback from the players, we believe we have found a great way to add both replayability and uniqueness to the next chapter's experience, without it having a too enormous impact on workload.
So... When's the next chapter coming, then?
We truly, truly apologize for our vagueness. At this point, we're done making estimates. We believe that all game developers should take the time they need to make their game meet their own expectations, when they can, however high those expectations are.
Information on console developments
We realize now that we haven't shared much information on console development and there isn't a console early access version. Some more eager fans have been making sure to let us know that, and we thank them for it. Some of the comments might seem rude to other fans, but all those concerns are definitely valid, and we tend to see eagerness as a good sign that players can't wait to play the game! Ahem... News, right. There it is:
What's going on with console development?
- Console development has begun, and has been for a while now.
- We are official Microsoft and Sony partners.
- We have working versions of the game on both consoles (Xbox One, and PlayStation 4).
- Those versions contain game-breaking bugs that includes missing required features and intermittent crashes, and those bugs need to be squashed before a public playable version is released. Fixing these will take time.
Why is the Early Access only on PC?
- PC is a GREAT platform to identify and fix bugs that we may have missed, thanks to the variety of specifications.
- Managing feedback, communication, and updates on three different consoles is something we cannot afford at the moment.
- Releasing a finished and polished version is crucially important on console, because of the lack of specifications' variety. If we missed a single bug, all (or most) console players will experience it.
Will PC players play the whole game in Early Access?
No. The upcoming chapter will be the FINAL chapter available in Early Access before full release. It is crucial for us to make this chapter available in Early Access for multiple technical reasons, including performance issues, code being extremely different from Lucy's chapter, and more.
To be more concise: TWO chapters out of FOUR will be available in Early Access.
A small token of appreciation for all the console backers
We understand it's unfair for the console backers to be left out from the Early Access, and we also understand that this token does NOT make it even. With that said, we will be sending an extra PC Early Access key to every backer who have pledged to receive a console version. That way, if you have a PC available, or if you want to gift it to a friend with a PC, so you can enjoy it together, you'll be able to do so for free.
If for any reason you feel like this move from us is making it unfair because of a special case we haven't thought of, please make sure to contact us directly on Kickstarter, and we'll see what we can do. We do value the support you've given us.
Huge thanks to all the fans
Internet can really be a pool of bloodthirsty sharks sometimes, but man oh man, is it not in here. You guys have shown unwavering patience and support ever since the very beginning of the project. Seriously, every now and then, people actually take the time to reach out to us simply to say that they are grateful for our work and that they love the game. That is freaking awesome, so thanks for that.
And to all the people who are getting impatient, know that we understand your feeling, we are gamers too, and we know that we're really pushing it far. Know that we're on it every day, and we're doing all we can so that waiting will be worth it in the end!
A wonderful day to all of you!
