The Collective Book is a unique project that puts backers into the heart of the reward. Everyone who backs this project, by selecting a book reward, will become part of the book by having the option to have their very own page.
With this one page you can share whatever you want!
Everyone in the world is different with their own views, skills and wisdom, but very few people get the opportunity to share it with other people.
This book gives people the chance to share something that's personal to them with the world in a simple and meaningful way.
Each page will be created by someone completely different from the last, meaning each page will be a complete mystery.
One page could be a piece of art, the next a short story. The page after that could be a secret family recipe, and the next a made up game someone wants to teach you.
The Collective Book will be a something special that you can treasure and explore for years to come.
I've always had a strong desire to create something to share with the world before I die. Something that people could remember me by, putting my stamp on the world in a way.
Turns out the more I talk to people, I realised I'm not the only one.
Most people what to share something with the world but most people never get the chance.
I wanted to create something that gives people that chance, even if it is in just a small way.
I loved the idea of using the Kickstarter format to create a growing reward. The more people who back the project, the bigger and better the reward will be.
This idea of creating a kind of community behind a simple product like a book seemed like too much of an exciting idea to pass up.
How does it work?
If you back this project by purchasing a copy of The Collective Book, you also get the opportunity to create a single page within that book. A page where you can share what ever you want with the rest of the world.
If the campaign is successful in reaching its goal, everyone who chooses the 'The Collective Book - with page' reward will be contacted and asked to submit their page, along with a title, their name and where they are from to put at the bottom of each page.
There will be no rush for people to send in their page as the deadline will be 4 weeks after the campaign ends which gives everyone plenty of time to think about and create their perfect page.
We will ask you to send in your page either via kickstarter or e-mail.
If there is something that conflicts with our format and guideline rules in your page, we will contact you again to help you try and fix it. (Format and Guidelines Below)
Once we've collected everyones pages and made sure everything is good enough quality to print, we will arrange the book in the best way possible to give readers the best experience.
The layout will then be sent to the book printer who will professionally print it and we can start shipping the books to you.
Below are a few examples from my friends and family who have already supported this project with their own page.
Perhaps they could give you a bit of inspiration to what your page could be and also a little insight into the book when it is printed.
Here is a list of general directions and information that will hopefully help you create your perfect page.
- All submitted pages must be in a JPEG format.
- The book will be sized 210cm x 210cm which is a square.
- For the best looking result in your pages we ask that your design to be either square or landscape.
- Each page will have a white border around it, so keep that in mind when creating your page (examples above).
- Any writing type must be a minimum of type size 6pt to be readable.
- The maximum limit for words on one page with the minimum font size is 700 words.
If you have any questions, or need any help regarding your page, please feel free to contact us.
While we want you to have as much creative freedom with your page as possible, there are a few guidelines your page must follow if it is to be included in the book.
- No stealing of other peoples work
- No graphic nudity
- No hate speech
- No profanity or excessive bad language
All the submitted pages will be put onto the back of a t-shirt.
The back design will change depending on the amount of pages submitted but below is a mock up of the pages we already have to give you an idea.

A2 size (594mm x 420mm)
Everyones' pages will be laid out in a grid format.
How do the Rewards Work?
Because the '1x The Collective Book - with page' reward is limited to 250, unfortunately there is not a way to include a custom page option to other rewards.
However, if you would like to have the book with your own page and one or more of the other rewards, please select the '1x The Collective Book - with page' reward and then add the price of the chosen added item/items on top to get your selected rewards.
Example : if you want the t-shirt and a poster,as well as a copy of the The Collective Book with a page. please select:
- '1x The Collective Book - with page' reward.
- Then add 20 (t-shirt=£20) to the price section.
- And add 15 (poster = £15) to the price section.
We will message you to confirm what you have chosen when the campaign is finished.
Please take into account the added shipping cost when adding items to each other).
Risks and challenges
By far the main challenge of this campaign (like most kickstarters I imagine) will be the packing and shipping of the books and rewards. I have already worked out the shipping process but no doubt it will not be as simple as I'm planning. That's why I have given myself plenty of time to sort the shipping process and I have a few helping hands ready.
Although this will be my first experience in logistics I have done a lot of research and will be sure to keep you all updated on the process as much as possible.
You can rest assure I will not be cutting any corners as my main priority will be to get your chosen rewards to you safely.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
