We began production on this feature-length documentary in June 2013. Through process of filming, we are exploring the joys and struggles of living, working, and creating in Venice, through the eyes of locals. These individual stories are bound together by the passion that each featured individual has for the place in which they live, and for their chosen lifestyle within it.

Motivations for making this film
Venice has a rich cultural and creative history that continues to evolve. Many existing films about Venice that we found are short pieces that have been filmed by people who are visiting the town for just a few days, and there are many set here that focus on skateboarding. One interesting short focused on the early days of Venice.
We have tried to discover individual stories that highlight the work of the unique people who make Venice the place that it is.
This documentary is a present-day portrait of a few of the talented and eclectic people who call this haven their home. All have chosen alternative lifestyles and create work that they love, rather than settling into a job they hate for the perceived stability like many do. Those featured are inspirational because the paths they followed to get here are uniquely their own. They have persevered through struggles in order to live passionately, because - to them - there is no other way to live.
We hope that this film will be loved by the people of Venice as much as by people who have yet to visit. We are continuing to work daily to make it the best that we can, and to get it out to as many people as possible.
We have committed our efforts to documenting these specific people because we believe that their stories are important, compelling, and entertaining. With your help, we can continue to work toward our goal of inspiring all who view this film to seek a greater understanding of themselves, and what makes them feel truly happy and fulfilled.
Current Progress & Completion Goal
We have already shot most of our film, and have been editing the footage throughout production. The full film -- which we anticipate to run approximately 90 minutes -- should be completed by the end of 2013.
Why We Need Your Support
Unfortunately, we fell short of our first Kickstarter goal, having based it on other projects of our size and overestimated the exposure we would get from the general public on the website. We decided to relaunch a new campaign with a bare-bones goal because, at the very least, we need help covering costs of equipment maintenance, music licensing, and film festival submission fees.
Please help us complete and promote our film.
We are working closely with individuals featured in the film to bring you some great gifts of gratitude for your contributions. This means that - in addition to helping to fund the creation of this film - your generosity will also support these local Venice artists who have been so gracious to allow us a candid look into their lives.
Shipping of Rewards
Since we are going to be editing the film in the next two months, we have set the anticipated reward dates to January of 2014 so that the artists will have time to complete the projects, and we will have time to ship them to you.
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk we could potentially face would be [damage to / loss of] equipment. We do not yet foresee many other hurdles to the completion of our project.
We are dedicated to completing this film because we are enjoying the process and are proud of the film we are creating. It would greatly help us to have even a small budget for this film instead of paying for all of our expenses out-of-pocket.
Since Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing source of funding, no money changes hands unless we reach our base goal prior to the deadline. Any funding that we may receive above our base goal can be used to make this film even more beautiful and creative than it is already set to become, as well as get it to a wider audience. If you don't see a reward level at the amount you would like to contribute, you can specify any amount (starting at $1) after clicking the "Back This Project" button.
If you have any further questions about our project, feel free to write!
