This play, W.E.B. DU BOIS: A MAN FOR ALL TIMES, tells the unique story of a very remarkable man. The play begins with telling the story of Du Bois' childhood: born in 1868, 5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation Act, we trace through his childhood, and follow him to Fisk University. He went from Fisk to Harvard, the first person of color to ever graduate from Harvard.
The play then shows us several major events that occurred in his life, and how Du Bois felt morally pushed into fighting against racism in America.
A very well traveled scholar, Du Bois' life allows us to take the audience on his various journeys and major political milestones, such as being one of the co-founders of the NAACP.
On the personal side, we enjoy the humor in how he selected his wife, and grieve at the tragedy in the death of his first born child.
W.E.B. DU BOIS: A MAN FOR ALL TIMES, is a richly entertaining look at the nearly one hundred year life of a truly unsung hero in American History. A great pioneer in the world of Civil Rights for all people. 'History cannot ignore W.E.B. DU BOIS"--Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
We wish to take this play to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival--the largest theatrical event in the world, so that we can spread the knowledge of this brilliant and dedicated man's life's work.
We need funding support to cover air-fare, theatre rental, marketing, accommodation, and all the expenses involved with mounting a production. Please help us!
