Let me introduce you to the members of The Box City Wallops.

Wayne
Wayne

Wayne is the big brother, and the muscle of the group. He has a serious nature, and some people might even call him moody, yet there is a side to him that enjoys one-liners and sarcastic quips. His abilities include smashing and crushing, stomping, etc.

Nola Root
Nola Root

Next is middle sister Nola Root. Tough, stern- she is the product of her military training. Her preferred weapon is a sword yet she is proficient in all manner of weaponry as well as various martial arts and hand to hand combat. She struggles occasionally in her new role as protector and her past continues to haunt her.

Zaso
Zaso

Last- baby brother Zaso. A technical genius, his favorite tool is the mysterious N-Box, a device he himself constructed. With the appearance of a cell phone, the N-Box has a multitude of capabilities, many of which are known only to its creator.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Wallops are not "exposure enhanced" superheroes, or individuals who have gotten their powers through artificial means, as is the norm in the world of this comic. Rather they are of an alien race where all DNA is mixed naturally within the mother, to produce offspring of varying physical characteristics and abilities. This race is known as the Mergenetix- or Merge. In this race, what is normal and expected is that siblings will share no (or very little) likeness to one another.

Presently on Earth, the Wallops have the role as guardians and defenders of Box City and its residents. In the scenario I have put forth in this comic, teams of superheroes are hired and compensated for their services. Also- cities have one dedicated team that represents that particular market. Modeled loosely after sports teams one could think of it as that- however there is no inter-team league or competition between teams. For example in this first story arc we have our guys- The Box City Wallops and the neighboring citiy's Miracle City Killocrats.

The project that I'm proposing here covers issues 1 and 2 of a 5 issue story arc. The following 3 issues I would hope to cover in a second following Kickstarter, obviously to come along at some indeterminate time in the future. I don't know when I can get those next 3 issues done- I would hope and expect at some point within the next year. That is my goal.

Anyhow, issues 1 and 2 are done- and these are the objects of this campaign. Each reward level (beyond level one) will contain actual, physical copies of these first 2 issues. Each book will be signed by me (and include a little sketch) on the inside front cover or thereabouts.

The Box City Wallops will be printed standard comic book format and will feature black and white interiors and color covers. Issue 1 is 26 pages of story and art and issue 2 is also 26 pages of story and art.

If you go to the Rewards area there are 5 pieces of original art that were done up for The Box City Wallops and I'm offering them as incentives to the higher reward levels. Below, in order, are images of the 5 Groupshots that I refer to.

Groupshot 1
Groupshot 1

This is a very early image of The Wallops. It was done originally as a cover but I changed my mind. The art measures 9 x 13.5 inches.

Groupshot 2
Groupshot 2

Once again, here we have an unused cover (I'm a little crazy when it comes to doing multiple covers lol). Artwork measures 9.5 x 14.3 inches.

Groupshot 3
Groupshot 3

This piece of art was done just last week specifically for the Kickstarter (as a project cover image). It measures aprox. 16 x 11.5 (no border).

Groupshot 4

This artwork was done with the intent that it would be used as a reward for the Kickstarter. The original measures 12 x 17 inches.

Groupshot 5

I wanted a real kick-ass image for the ultimate reward level. Here The Wallops "open a can" on a bunch of weird little flying balls. It's not a scene from the comic but I really like these creatures and will look for an excuse to get them in the book. The original measures 13 x 16 inches.

Dinosaur Head Cat
Dinosaur Head Cat

In all the rewards I talk about this thing called "Dinosaur Head Cat" so I guess I should explain just what that is. DHC is a children's book that I wrote years ago and finally earlier this year got around to finishing. Wanting not to let it just sit there I went ahead and found a publisher (Mascot Books) who would actually get this thing printed and marketed. The image above is the original one I came up with when I submitted the script. Mascot tweaked it a little bit and made it more jazzy (talkin' about the cover now) but it's all-in-all very similar. So- this full color 32 page children's book will be offered additionally along with the rewards for The Box City Wallops.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly I just want to say that the money I am asking for will pay for the expenses for printing and shipping fees from the printer. As well it'll cover the fees associated with the campaign and credit card processing.

Thanks everybody-- Jim

Risks and challenges

I've done several Kickstarters in the past so I'm familiar with the mechanics and expectations of what's involved in a campaign. The physical work of doing the art and preparing it for printing is done. Contacting the printer has not been done yet (pending the results of the KS) but I think I'm gonna go with the printer that I used in my last campaign.
