Hi, our names are Tony and Craig and we have been working very hard for months and months to try and create the first line in our new clothing brand, Abduction 51.
We are both very passionate about great clothing and great designs. The idea to create our own brand and designs originally came to us a couple of years ago. It was nothing more than a spark back then, but as time has gone by we have both been getting more and more excited at the prospect of creating our own brand and sharing our designs with the world.
Around a year or so ago, we began doodling and created our logo. Excited just by the prospect of having a logo, we went and got prototype t-shirts made with just the logo screen printed on it. Picking these prototype t-shirts up from the screen printers was such a great feeling! Our first original t-shirt! Realising that not many people would be interested in buying a t-shirt showing just our logo at this stage, we decided to take some time to seriously think about the direction we could go in with the brand.
After a lot of discussion we started creating more designs. Some on the PC, some hand drawn, we were just bashing out rough possible design ideas. Each time we got a few more designs down, we made it our mission to make the next design better and better. Through doing this we have finally got to a level of design which we believe to be of a high standard and will be appealing to others.
During this time, Tony created a small t-shirt review blog to get more insight into the business. He reviewed t-shirts from various independent clothing brands from all over the place. He talked to many independent clothing brand owners, gathering valuable information, tips and advice from them all along the way.
As the brand has been moving forward and coming together, we have also started looking at the possibilities of sponsoring various professionals in different industries. We have already talked to a couple of awesome bands and should our Kickstarter campaign be successful, we will be looking to get them and others on board to be affiliated with the A51 brand.
Our various inspirations have come from many people and places over the years, originally starting with US rapper MC Lars. It was many years ago at an MC Lars concert that Tony was first inspired to create a clothing brand when chatting to MC Lars after his set.
Since then, one of the biggest inspirations has been professional skateboarder turned entrepreneur, Rob Dyrdek. Showing that anything is achievable if you put your mind to it, his phrase "Make Your Own Luck" has stuck with us in our quest to really get this brand started.
By contributing to our Kickstarter campaign, you will not only be one of the first people to own Abduction 51 clothing, but you will get it at a discount rate! All of our reward levels are carefully worked out to give you the best possible value and reward you for being an early adopter!
As a further thank you, we have made sure higher reward levels come with even greater discounts!
Every single person who contributes will also get a mention on our website, along with a link to their Twitter or Facebook account if requested.
We hear you! You can still contribute by simply following us on Twitter or liking our Facebook page and sharing our posts and tweets! We would really appreciate any help you can give us to spread the word!
Risks and challenges
There are a number of steps and dependencies in the process of getting from a design to a finished piece of clothing. From design digitization to packaging, any of these steps could potentially cause a delay.
We have been working hard to source reliable suppliers to ensure we have as clear a pipeline right the way through production as possible.
We will initially overstock and keep a good level of stock of items where possible (such as labels, packaging etc) to even further reduce the risk of delays in the pipeline.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
