First Bunch of Rewards has been sent!
Just an hour ago we finished depositing in Post Office first 142 packages with Lapis Lazuli Pack - "Ten Animated Films by Signe Baumane" DVD (this DVD also includes Dzintra Geka's documentary "Signe And..."). Just to warn you - not all the 10 films on the DVD are for children. Some of them are quite outrageous.
Packing the packages was fun! Masha Yukhananov came to help to write addresses on the envelopes and I made a drawing around each address. Please, see in the picture below our happy faces. Or, for full report on packing, please visit my yesterday's blog post.
This morning I put the 142 packages in a suitcase, put the suitcase on a hand truck (because the suitcase had a broken wheel and wouldn't roll) and pushed it 8 blocks up the Sunset Park's hill to the post office.
Angel, the clerk, cheerfully fist bumped me when he saw how many packages I've got for him.
- Mamí, you'll keep Postal Service in business! - he said, rolled up his sleeves and got to work.
The 109 packages with local destination were easy, Angel gave me 327 stamps, 3 for each package (two round Forever $1.10 and one Teakettle of $0.05). I glued them all on, while Angel carried packages deeper inside Postal Service intestines.
The international packages took longer with writing 33 custom forms, Angel scanning each form and writing address in the Postal computer system. In horror I observed that Angel covered some of my drawings with the custom form.
I was in the post office from 11 AM till 2PM. $245.25 were spent on mailing 109 local packages, $341.40 - to mail 33 international. If you would like to know the package gender ratio - 75 packages were addressed to women, 67 - to men.
The next in line is shipping Cat's Eye Pack!
