The album, Fear is the Teacher, will contain all original compositions- I'm seeking to capture the band's high energy sound and channel it into fluid, memorable compositions. I want to achieve a balance between form and freedom, structure and improvisation. In this past year, I've learned so much by following my dreams, by taking risks despite feeling significant fear and doubt. Each song on the album was born from an experience that I fully gave myself to- some dark, some happy, some crazy and wild, among others. I've found freedom by giving myself to life's experiences and transforming them through music. I feel a deep calling to create this album, and your support means the world to me. Thank you so much!!
I can hardly believe that I've been a full time musician for over a year now. I released my debut album and played sold out shows at some of the best venues in Asheville. I toured the east coast and received press coverage in multiple cities. I assembled a band of incredible musicians with great chemistry and a high energy live sound. As an entirely self supporting and independent artist, I do all of my gig booking, managing, promoting, and songwriting. I self funded my first album and have paid for all my own expenses like touring, pressing CDs, and printing T-Shirts.
I want to take things to the next level and record a really special album, and I need your help!
I'm grateful to work with some incredibly talented musicians. We'll be recording with award winning producer Matt Williams at his studio, the Eagle Room. The band consists of:
Molly Barret on Fiddle: 1st place winner of the Fiddler's Grove Competition, Molly can play anything from bluegrass to gypsy jazz, without sacrificing her unique melodic style or awesome sense of humor.
Mattick Frick on drums: A rhythmic and improvisational genius who has toured all over the world. Mattick also gives AMAZING hugs.
Ryan Kijanka on upright bass: An incredibly versatile and experienced musician with the technical skills of a supercomputer, the soul of a artist, and the heart of the Buddha.
Franklin Keel on cello: A true prodigy who hears what no one else can, this musical ninja with a Master Degree is constantly doing back flips in uncharted waters.

Risks and challenges
There will certainly be unexpected expenses that come up in the process- maybe the band will need more time in the studio, or the mixing and mastering process will take longer than expected. My commitment to myself and to the backers of this project is to release the best album possible- no exceptions. I'm going to create an album that I'm truly proud of, and I'll spare no expense in doing so, even if it means going beyond the project budget and emptying my bank account. If by your incredible generosity we raise more than the goal, all the remaining funds will go towards promoting the album- radio, press, and touring. Thank you so much for supporting original, independent music!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
