The Film

The Amazing Mr. Chim is a 15 minute animated film that will be entered in film festivals nationally and internationally as well as compete for a nomination in the Academy Awards Animated Shorts competition. This is a color HD animated film that incorporates hand drawn full animation, as well as digital techniques, such as digital clean-up, vector art, photo-collage backgrounds and 3D-virtual lighting set-ups. It is an "animal docu-drama" that seeks to reveal "the Monkey behind the mask". This film will launch the character of Mr. Chim who will reappear in animated episodes to be made for years to come.
Who's gonna make it?
Dan Boulos, is the lead artist on this project. Just so you know, he is not an untrained beginner. He worked for more than 12 years in Los Angeles as a professional animation artist at studios like Walt Disney Feature Animation and DreamWorks. He has been running his own small company in Hawaii, Wiki Wiki Cartoons, for more than 10 years working with all kinds of local clients. He will be able to bring on board other highly trained artists, that have worked on films like Lion King and Pocahontas. But believe it or not the one thing he has not been able to do in his entire career, is to make a film of his own, with new characters; a film that would actually launch his professional work in a new direction. Instead of working for large studios or even independent contracts for commercial work, he will for the first time be able to make a project that is professional quality, but is something new, his own vision. His list of friends include artists and animators at studios like Pixar, DreamWorks and Walt Disney Studios, so you know he will find the right people to help out on this project.

The Tipping Point
The truth is any artist can understand the desire to create something original, but at this moment The Amazing Mr. Chim is at a crucial point in the production. Dan has been working on it in all his free moments for the last nine years, but this is the year it will be finished, with your help!
What your cash will buy
Your financial support will allow Dan to hire a team of artists (4-5) that will work feverishly with him over the next 5-6 months to complete the 112 scenes of animation left in production. The money will also be used to pay for music licensing and sound effects. The fee to screen the film theatrically is also part of this plan, allowing us to be considered for nomination in the Oscars.

For the love of cartoons!
Help launch the start of a new animation character, one that will be around for years to come. It is only people like you that will change the way movies are funded and made. The sad thing is, we all miss cartoons, really good ones. Dan wants to make great cartoons, ones that don’t fall in line with what large media producers define as the future of animation. He has lots of ideas for new characters and stories.
Animation blossomed through the years because of artists and audience members that shared a common love of hand drawn cartoons. With your help we can bring professionally made animated cartoons back under the creative control of artists and fans.
For the whole Family
The Amazing Mr. Chim is a film suitable for cartoon lovers of all ages. I have kids too, and believe me I don't want to have to hide this film from them : )

The Future
Mr. Chim will help us launch our long-range plans. We will produce new independent animated characters for years to come. Mr. Chim is the start but there are several more projects in the wings. Your support will help create a new cartoon studio that is dedicated to exciting new characters, outside the limited range of cartoons being made by the large corporations. Did you know that when Walt Disney and his brother Roy started their success with Mickey Mouse it was because they bypassed the existing big companies and took their cartoons directly to their audience. This is exactly what we are trying to do now. This really is a family business and we really, really, really, really want to make cartoons!!!
Thanks for your time, passion and concern!
