It's about how we connect. How we try to reach out casually so we won't get hurt, and feel something that reminds us we're alive. It's quick, it's dirty, and it's fun.
It's a web series by Braden LuBell based on his play. A group of us from New York, Boston, London, Chicago and L.A. found each other and couldn't wait to work together. Some of us have known each other for 14 years, some for a few months. We flew, drove, and rode buses to Boston during a blisteringly cold week in November, lived in a house we rented, and began to film this thing we call Quick & Dirty. It felt like part summer camp, part art school, part group theatre exploration, part movie shoot; living together, working together, eating pizza and vegan muffins, creating; this group of actors, director, cinematographer, our sound guy, our costume designers and hair and makeup person, our producer… all giddy with excitement and lack of sleep.
We have another few days of shooting in the Boston area, as there are just a couple more episodes to film that fill in some very important story gaps! Then we have loads of post production (color correction, editing, sound editing, composing a score) before we can share our passion with you. Join us in celebrating that passion by helping us finish the project.
Risks and challenges
Projects like this take so many steps to get to that final product. There are so many people who need to bring their work to the table, it's easy for one person to sidetrack your progress. Luckily, Braden has a wonderful community of friends who've been there, and are willing to share all of their insights and connections to get Quick & Dirty streaming to your phone/iPad/computer/etc as soon as possible. Braden has never started a large project like this that didn't make it past the finish line, including the original theatrical production of Quick & Dirty which performed despite one of the worst blizzards Chicago had seen in years. We can DO it! Help us get there!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
