ALPHA 1.6 + Post-TGS News
Hello, our awesome C-Wars family,
How’s autumn treating everyone? It’s National Holiday in China and most Beijingers are out of town for travelling or apple picking, while the C-Wars team is staying in the studio for code/pixel picking…
I. ALPHA 1.6!!!
Download it here: LINK
C-Wars Alpha 1.6 is a major release. We have completed the following features:
1- Mission Editor. This simple yet efficient editor is helping us to make missions quickly. We can create some very complex missions in just a few clicks. We will release a STANDALONE version of this editor, so you can create your own mission and test it in the game. You can even share it with your friends and let them challenge the mission you created.
2- Mega Cannon [MC]. This is a fun thing to make. We are still testing the game balancing with MC. It's a strong weapon, but it will not ruin the gameplay.
3- Shooting range was added into the game. Sniper is still very powerful, but now you have to think more about strategies, because she has some dead angles.
4- The WASD moving control for PC. That's a huge change from our previous version of 1.5.2. After collecting reactions and opinions from the new C-Wars players face-to-face, we realized that the drag & drop mouse mode is not convenient at all. So we changed it at the Fan Expo, and spent a lot of time to make sure it feels right. Now it's official that the PC move will be like this at least.
We will add controller control later. One thing for sure is that, if you use the keyboard, you will have as much fun as playing with a controller.
II. Some Good News
1- Did we officially announce that we are licensed developer for PSV? Well, we ARE and we have our dev-kits already ;)
2- WiiU! The 8th generation console! We are also a WiiU licensed developer now. Thanks to Nintendo America for letting us pass before Tokyo Game Show.
We are working on our PC version at the moment, but will keep you guys updated when we begin to make the console version.
III. Post-TGS Media Covers
We had such a fantastic experience at Tokyo Game Show last week. It was amazing to witness so many people playing our C-Wars' demo. Additional to meeting wonderful C-Wars players, we also got some media coverage as a bonus.

IV. Indie Community
We've been a total otaku for the past 5 months, but thanks to our backers’ recommendations, we managed to play “Papers, Please” and some other great games. Let us share an interesting pixel game here:
We’re pretty sure you've played at least one game from Kunio-kun franchise on NES. As a real cult classic, River City Ransom is one of their most remarkable games. 20 years have passed. Now some guys from Ottawa, Canada are trying to make a licensed follow-up of River City Ransom!
The pixel animations in the game are simply outstanding, and we can clearly feel the humor from the original River City. We make awesome pixel art as well, but there is one thing we can never achieve in C-Style, which is…BOOBS! Sorry guys! With our current proportion of C-Style pixels, we literally can't make hot girls. That's one of the reasons why we love their works so much.
Seriously, it's more expensive to make a licensed game, especially for a legendary franchise. They need 33k more in 5 days, so let's support them!
That’s all for now. Happy October and apple picking! (pumpkin picking for Americans & Canadians…)
