Our Mission: To deliver top quality USA-made boots with no middleman markup, while securing jobs for American workers.
We happen to know a thing or two about the value of American craftsmanship, especially when it comes to shoes. We also know that while American-made shoes offer quality and dependability, they’re getting harder and harder to find. Why? Because generally, stuff made here tends to cost more to make than it does overseas. You’re paying for American real estate, workers, warehousing costs and typically high-quality materials. Add to all of that the markup cost implemented by retailers and you’ve got a pricey product.
Enter Brooklyn Boot Company. We’re taking a new approach to the USA-made process: crafting top-quality American-made shoes at a price Americans can afford to pay. And we’re doing it by shipping our boots directly to you from our facilities.
We’re making a boot that’d typically retail around $300 and offering it to you for $175. Why are we doing this? Because we’ve noticed a real problem with the current domestic-made market – things made here simply cost more than a lot of Americans are willing to spend. To combat this, we’ve developed a price model that eliminates the middleman – this means we will be selling to absolutely NO RETAILERS. Our direct-to-consumer model will cut out the middleman markup, allowing us to pass the savings your way.
Promising to deliver our products at an accessible pricepoint doesn’t mean we’ll be compromising quality. We’re using the best materials, leathers and traditional shoemaking techniques in our production.
WHO IS BROOKLYN BOOT COMPANY?
Brooklyn Boot is a combination of new-blood determination and seasoned experience. Gino Bellia is the brand’s founder and is responsible for leading the team every step of the way. Scott Hagen is an entrepreneurial newcomer to the brand’s parent company and is leading brand development for Brooklyn Boot. Jon Lebo, our head designer, is a seasoned craftsman with over 30 years of experience and the technical knowledge to back it up.
Brooklyn, New York and all its rich history serves as the root of our brand’s inspiration. For one, it was where the true “American made” started. So much of America’s modern infrastructure was built first in Brooklyn – its roads were among the first paved paths to our schools, hospitals, libraries, bridges, boats and more. Today there are multiple types of personalities and people who call Brooklyn home, and we love that. So we set out to make a universally appealing boot that caters to every man and every kind of style.
While Brooklyn, New York inspired our brand name, our ties go a little bit deeper than that. Our factory is located on a site named Brooklyn Industrial Park, so the name seemed too significant to ignore.
We set out to design a pair of boots that every man in the country can enjoy. Our first style, the Rough Lands boot, is modeled after a classic American work-boot but with stylish, everyday appeal. This boot is available in four colors each inspired by a different kind of badass animal that once roamed the country. All of the styles will be built atop a Vibram sole which is super flexible, slip-resistant, durable and weighs half as much as a full rubber sole. In other words, these boots are comfortably made for everyday wear.
The Rough Lands in Barking Rough Out - Our Special Edition Premier Style: In choosing the materials for our VIP style, we decided to step forth with our best boot forward. We sourced the leather used for our Rough Lands boot in Barking Rough Out from Charles F. Stead & Co, with no reservations trusting a name that has been around since the 1890’s.
The striking and unique look, feel and durability of this rough out leather is the perfect match for the on-point, rugged gentleman we envision in these boots. Using only the best raw materials, C.F. Stead never cuts corners and always prioritizes quality over yield. This family-owned tannery is known for producing bespoke, custom, made-to-order leathers.
Set at a higher tier, the eye-catching finish of this rough out leather is not easy to achieve. The result is an easily broken-in leather that conceals wear-and-tear like no other.
FIND YOUR SIZE!:
Our factory is located in a facility named Brooklyn Industrial Park in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania. This building is as “brick-and-mortar” as we get – we won’t invest in storefronts or place our boots on any shelves at retail. That allows us to dedicate our funds to the materials and equipment in our facility, and our employees. It is here that your boots will pass through the hands of over 30 skilled shoemakers before being boxed up and shipped right to your doorstep.
We have everything lined up for first-run production, but we need help to get this off the ground. With the money we raise on Kickstarter we will support a full first-run production on our Rough Lands style, complete with timely shipping. The promise of orders will serve as proof of concept and allow us to continue to reserve factory space to further develop the brand.
Our goal is to launch a thriving brand whose output and demand can rival that of the volume happening overseas. We ultimately want to bring power back to American manufacturing and be part of the movement to make homegrown products more accessible.
$50,000 will allow us to achieve timely production on our first style, the Rough Lands.
$75,000 would allow us to fast-track the addition of our next style on deck – a sleek moc-toe boot style that can be worn with jeans and a t-shirt or for dressier occasions. This style, the Roundabout, is fully equipped with the quality, comfort and rugged spirit that Brooklyn Boot represents.
From there, the sky’s the limit. If this campaign is a success, we hope to quickly expand our product offering and add more new designs to our collection, as we continue to make our mission of making American made affordable a reality.
