The World's Lightest Dog Leash
Over the years, dog leashes have seen little innovation, and the improvements we have experienced mostly result in large bulky products. We wanted something smaller and lighter; we wanted less. Kloudline leashes are the world's lightest dog leashes. We've gotten rid of the bulk without sacrificing any strength. In fact, we've made them stronger! There is a common myth that a leash has to be large and unwieldy to control a big dog. Kloudline gives you all the control and stopping power of a traditional leash at a fraction of the bulk and weight. We created Kloudline with the minimalist in mind. It's an ultra strong leash that can easily fit in your pocket and doesn't break the bank.

What is Kloudline?
Our leashes are constructed using a braided rope called Dyneema® which is extremely strong and lightweight while maintaing a soft hand feel. Size for size, it is the same strength as steel. Most traditional leashes use nylon or polyester webbing for the body of the leash which tends to be bulky and heavy. This is especially true with longer leashes. Kloudline leashes are just 7/64 of an inch thick and have a break strength of 1600 pounds.

The Misconception
Many people believe a leash needs to be large and unwieldy to be strong and effective. With Kloudline, that simply isn't true. Our leashes are every bit as strong as a larger traditional leash at a fraction of the bulk and weight.

The Leashes

We have two styles of Kloudline leashes: Minimus and Ultralight. Minimus comes in both 4 foot and 6 foot lengths with a soft polyester handle for comfort and control. Ultralight is just that: extremely lightweight and packable. It comes in a 4 foot length with a built in loop handle. This leash is perfect for the backpacker or person with a well behaved dog who doesn't want to be weighed down in leash law areas.
Minimus
- 4 and 6 foot length
- 3/4" sublimated polyester webbing handle
- Lightweight and strong 7/64 Dyneema® leash body
- 1600 pound body break strength

Ultralight
- 4 foot length
- Built in locking brummel loop handle
- Easily fits in any pocket
- Lightweight and strong 7/64 Dyneema® leash body
- 1600 pound body break strength

Handle Comparison:
We've been getting quite a few questions about the different leashes and their handles. Here's a video of them side by side.

Optional Traffic Handle
Need a little more control? We offer an optional traffic handle that can be added as a second handle to any of our leashes. The handle is made of 7/64 Dyneema and allows you to get a close grip on your pup if needed. The handle is connected with a simple loop to loop connection. This allows you to easily disconnect the two should you want to only use the traffic handle as a lead.

Construction
Kloudline leashes are built using a knotless construction. We use a technique called splicing which preserves the strength of the rope. Knots can cause weaknesses and greatly reduce the break strength of a rope or line. We then cover and protect the splice with a heat shrink rubber making sure the leash is secure and ready for your adventure. Kloudline leashes are incredibly light and extremely strong.

When Selecting An Add-On
Add-ons are simple. Our current add-on option is the traffic handle. This can be added to any pledge tier. First, select your pledge tier. Then, all you have to do is add $4 per leash to your pledge total and you're done!
For example, if you chose our most popular Kloudline Dog Family option and wanted all four leashes to have traffic handles, you would just add an additional $16 ($4 per leash) to your pledge.

The Team:
Brenon Dopp is an entrepreneur and explorer. He is the quintessential minimalist with a focus on sustainability and creating products that streamline life.

Harley the Bear is a 2 year old German Short Hair Pointer Blue Heeler mix in love with the outdoors and chasing her ball (most definitely not in that order). Her experience is a mystery to us, but her future seems to be pretty cool. Also, she loves Kloudline Leashes.

Bridger Dopp is a filmmaker and adventurer located in Salt Lake City, Utah. His past experience includes material sourcing and product manufacturing as well as marketing and digital media.

Development:

We went through many iterations finding the right balance between weight and strength, as well as testing many different types and sizes of handles. Leash length was also a question we needed to consider when selecting our given material. We believe we created the perfect combination in Kloudline.

Risks and challenges
As with any new venture, supply chain management can be an issue.
However, we make all our leashes in the U.S. and have done all necessary research to mitigate potential risks. We do promise to keep you informed and be completely transparent going forward to make sure you have the best experience possible.
The process we use to create images on our handles is called sublimation and requires a good deal of skill to ensure the images and graphics translate well to the webbing. We are partnering with U.S. leaders in the field to make sure we deliver the highest quality leashes possible.
