Step into the life of Lars van de Goor’ will let you have a look in the world of photographer and artist Lars van de Goor. Travelling throughout Europe in his motorhome we follow him through inspiring landscapes and get an idea of his original attitude towards photography and life. You have an unique opportunity to be part of this experience and it’s with your support that we can make it happen.
It was three years ago when I first met Lars personally in his Dutch home, where we took pictures of his favourite places together and gradually became friends. In a few days, we experienced amazing photography sessions under ideal conditions, morning mist and sun rays forcing their way through tree branches. It was simply beautiful. Step by step, I started to think of creating a documentary focusing on Lars’s inspiring work that is very close to my heart. At that time, I already wanted to capture those beautiful and timeless moments not only in photographs but also in a film. Yet it did not happen immediately, I had to wait for the right time.
When I learnt that Lars was going to leave his house and live in a camper van as a photo nomad, I knew that was the right moment. I could see an even greater potential in his personal story. A desire to share his way of life by means of a full-length documentary and the overall result started to have sharper outlines. I believe that this story goes far beyond the topic of photography and concerns us all. The theme is to live life to the fullest and do what we enjoy and what brings joy to us as well as other people. I feel a great desire to pursue Lars’s story, because he enjoys his life and everything he does.
Lars is Dutch artist, who was born on a barge surrounded by lakes and farmland in 1964. Working as a musician in his early professional life, he turned to photography in 2007: a demanding discipline that enables him to compose in a similar manner, not with notes on a stave, but with the landscapes that surround him in his daily life. Lars currently lives together with his wife in a motor home as a nomad and captures unique moods of nature over the world.
His enchanting work has won several awards, for example the Hasselblad Masters Award in 2016 as well as the gold medal from Trierenberg Super Circuit, one of the most prestigious photography contests.

Janek is Lars’s friend, a nature lover, passionate hiker as well as author of this documentary. He’s a professional film-maker, photographer and psychotherapist from the Czech Republic who focuses on telling stories by means of films and photography. In his films and photographs, he tries to share the spiritual essence of nature, which is a great inspiration for him as well as a place where he draws energy. Nature is also a place, where his psychotherapeutic practice takes place. He has been engaged in photography and filming for many years and by means of his abilities, he tries to capture not only the obvious but also the background that cannot be seen right away. For the above mentioned reasons, creating this documentary is just right for him.

As an independent filmmaker it is difficult to raise enough funds to ensure distribution for an inspiring documentary. My options to put this documentary in paid media are limited due to the size of the budget, which I want to use mostly for the creation of the documentary. Fortunately, I am very driven and enthusiastic about my work and therefore I know how to get attention for the movie itself as well as provide a way to get it in front of you.
One of the distribution channels that we are planning to pursue are film and documentary festivals such Bergfilm Festival, International Film Festival Ostrava and Tribeca Film Festival. Once finished, it will be made available to you through On Demand streaming services. I believe that the finished work will impress you especially if you are a photography enthusiast, traveler, or nature aficionado. We will do everything in our power to create an unforgettable experience for you and to deliver the movie to you.
I am an independent photographer, filmmaker and father of two children. Time is precious to me and I like to use it meaningfully, best when others benefit from it too. Kickstarter is the most effective way for me to create quality film material in a relatively short time. Thanks to your support, I can devote my time for shooting, instead of searching for sponsors to support this idea. So in many ways, your contribution is much more to me than just paying for a film.
I want you to get an adequate reward for the support of this project. I have created rewards that are simple and directly linked to the documentary. Everything is set up so that this project is an exclusive opportunity for you to get something unique as well. You'll be the first to get and see the whole film. If you are a fan of Lars' creation, you have a unique opportunity to purchase one of his prints for a very friendly price. All prices are set for this campaign only.
The entire budget for the documentary is $30,000. I am looking to crowdfund through Kickstarter $15,000. I will use my own savings of $15,000 to reach the full amount necessary for completing the documentary.
The crowdfunded $15,000 will serve to shoot the documentary in 4k quality, postproduction, marketing as well as for distribution.
Risks and challenges
Step into the world of Lars van de Goor is a documentary created by me and my team, which means that we eliminated any risk associated with third party work.
The biggest factor that could influence the production of the documentary is weather, which could hinder the outside shooting and extend the time necessary to finish the documentary.
The post-production team is experienced and ready to start work immediately after shooting is done. The risk associated with my perfectionist nature is that I will pay attention to every detail and that could prolong the post-production process and postpone the delivery of the documentary.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
