Through a conversational format, this cute ballerina and her mother have a life lesson to share. All too frequently people look at themselves in the mirror and see hippo bellies or flamingo legs. As the daughter questions her unique physical features, her loving mother reminds her daughter that her body is ‘just perfect’ the way it is. Bright colored artwork fills the pages and progressively reveals a lovable main character comprised of different animal body parts. She is the “perfect” ballerina. The word “perfect” is used throughout the book to remind young children that everyone is unique and there is no need to change who they are.
As a teenager, I struggled with various bouts of depression and anxiety, which eventually led to an attempt at taking my life. Through a combination of self-determination and family support, I slowly overcame my emotional difficulties and went on to a successful business career. I believe a life spent making public my triumph over anxiety and depression will have the most positive impact on the next generation. My book, Just Perfect, seeks to help children establish a positive view of themselves in a world that continually highlights flaws. Through both my literary works and public advocacy, I seek to empower the younger generation so fewer kids have the same experience I did.
My family has invested in the first small batch printing of Just Perfect. With overwhelmingly positive feedback, we are confident that this book is meant to be shared nationwide. We have decided to turn to Kickstarter to help make this a reality. This will not only pay for printing and my fabulous graphic designer, it will also pay for marketing and distribution outside of our hometown.
The funds will specifically help with the following:
- Printing hardcover and paperback copies of Just Perfect
- Design and print complementary coloring books
- Design a teacher's guide
- Other products including plush animal and apparel
- Additional marketing services to increase awareness and distribution
- Retail distribution: costs associated with bookstore shelf space and shipping
- Pay my amazing videographer for this Kickstarter
- Pay my wonderful Graphic Designer
- Copyrights and Trademarks
- US Shipping for Kickstarter rewards
- Kickstarter fees 5-10%
- Other unforeseen fees to be determined
If we are fortunate enough to surpass our funding goal, we will use the funds to:
- Print my next book, Just Super
- Expanding speaking engagements throughout the region
With your help, we can build up the next generation and inspire those questioning life today. Pledges large or small, even pledges of $1, can help make a difference. Making a difference one life at a time is success.

Risks and challenges
I'm a working mother of two toddlers; therefore, I'm constantly facing challenges. But at the end of the day, I put my two little girls to sleep, remind them that they are just perfect, and then start working on my projects hoping to make more children feel the same.
Life is full of risks and challenges. I have the drive to overcome them. I am alive today and I know I beat my biggest challenge. This should be a piece of cake ;).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
