Thanks to everyone for taking the time to share their thoughts! We'll keep the leather option in mind as an add-on. Shipping outside the USA will be very cost-effective since we've signed on with our global shipper, so no need to fret about that! :-)
@Jay: Thanks for the well thought-out suggestions! We've designed SHRU to move erratically and unpredictably rather than in a straight line. Maybe our next project will involve some more linear motion. :-)
I'd like to second Torsten's suggestion for a leather tail!
Great update, we can't wait to get my hands on Shru. Some feedback so far though (and I hope it's received in the constructive way it's intended) - we can't help but feel shru would get our cats a little more excited if it could get some straight line speed up and trigger more of the 'hunt' response that we see in our cats when they're playing with a real mouse or shiny tinfoil ball thrown in a straight line or pawed by them. I know this would probably be difficult to program or achieve - (i) how could shru see a straight line to steer along (ii) tinfoil balls are so light they're easily 'flicked' (iii) mice have years of survival instinct built in... but maybe Shru II with the experience you've gained, intelligence you've designed and support of us backers might enhance the cat play style from 'intrigue' to 'excitable chase'? Apologies if I've missed a 'mode' option that allows this since my initial backing. Greetings from Wales.
Tanks for the Update. Regarding the tail. Since im from Germany and future shipments arent worth the shipmentcosts i would like to point out that a "leather" tail would be much better then a feather tail. It is much sturdier and you can attach a feather urself. If in any means possible reconsider the feathertail and think about a leather one specialy for Backers outside the USA ;)
thanks for the update. As for the timeline its pretty in the dark to say u guys will be finished by june i think its more like i will be happy to have this in 2015 then in june. All the testing, manufactoring shipping. From previous kickstarters i know communication, manufacturing and shipping from china and back will always be delayed.
Allthough this kickstarter takes a hell of a time i still intriged what the end result will be.
Great update - thank you as always for taking such great care with the design details on this product. And thanks to all those early adopters testers who gave you so much feedback to refine and fix things.
I like that leather tail/string in the video that gave the cats a way to pick SHRU up.
My best out to Eastwood the Cat, too.
@Keiran Courville: You are most welcome for the updates!
@Enrico Chira: We are so, so sorry about your loss of Eastwood. We know how difficult it is to deal with the death of a pet and our thoughts are with you. We have also sent you a direct message through the KS messaging system.
My 7 year old cat Eastwood died last week, he couldn't make it to see SHRU in action.
Dittoing @Donna -- the youngest two (Loki & Spook) of my feline trio have June and July birthdays, so that timing will be perfect!
Thank you SO much for the updates!! Knowing that kinks - like the gears jamming - are being ironed out means it's worth the wait. :D
@Donna Hill: Thanks for the comment! :-) Can't wait to see Tango with his SHRU.
@Guy: Thanks for the offer, and kind wishes. It is great to know we've got an extra set of eyes out there for us.
If you need, I can help (free for you) and review the plastic mold design (cooling channels, ejectors, gates etc)
Wish you much success
Oh boy! Happy holidays! May/June will be perfect, just in time for my Tango's birthday!
