Over 100 recipes to inspire a healthy and sustainable kitchen. A legacy by Tone Anthony, presented by Guri Bigham

In 2009-2010 I wrote a raw food book with my mother, Tone Anthony, entitled ART OF RAW FOOD. Named after her wholesale/catering business based on Maui, it consists of over 100 original recipes that Tone collected and created over her 20 year exploration in raw food.

Tone Anthony passed away on January 28th, 2011. She lived her life to the fullest and her food was her art and passion. The completed manuscript of the book is the legacy she left behind with me, her daughter. The time has come to fulfill our dream of sharing it with the world.

Together we turned her recipes into words and created a comprehensive instructional recipe book with many stories and inspirations from around the world. I have now taken the project on myself and am doing all the photography for the book.

The book is aimed toward families and individuals interested in a healthier and more sustainable way of life. Whether converting completely to raw food or simply preparing raw food along with other cuisine, the recipes of this book offer something for everyone. Kids love raw food and it is the perfect alternative to a healthier diet. Many recipes are inspired by common dishes and therefor are easy to serve to a variety of people. The 30+ desserts offer great no-sugar, non dairy, gluten free options for any sweet-tooth.

My goal of $7000 is the minimum amount of funds I need to get my book in print while factoring in all the rewards of course. The quality of the book is very important to me. Raising more than my goal will give me more flexibility in the editing process and create a more professional book, more books for the initial print, more options for marketing among other possibilities such as creating a iphone app. So please continue to donate until the deadline!

For $25, your name will be in the acknowledgments of the book, for $50 you get a copy of the first run of the book, and $100 will get you a signed copy. I will be making 25 limited edition jacket covers which is included in the $200 and $500 rewards. For $1000 you can come stay in my house on Maui for a week and experience a 5 course raw meal.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

Once I raise the funds for my publishing project, I am confident that I will have what I need to complete a high quality recipe book. Like every creative project, there are always challenges and I am really learning as I go along. I might have trouble finding the right people to help me along the way but I already have so much support behind my project. My goal is to have the book in print within the first few months of 2013, but of course there may be delays do to unexpected hoops. Once to book is published, there's the marketing which can be expensive, but this project is more about the fulfillment of it than making money. Of course, when the project is funded, I will loyally fulfill all the rewards I promised no matter what the outcome.
