Hi! My name is Sejal. I'm an Interaction Designer and an aspiring Illustrator based in New York City. I have traveled many places with a blank journal, hoping to document the journey creatively that I can later show to my friends. More often than not, I have returned with empty journals or partially documented trips. It is not because I didn't have interesting stories to write or didn't have time to journal. It is simply due to my anxiety of blank pages, and not knowing how and where to start. I wished there was some tool that would help me document and preserve my memories in a way that I could cherish years later!
Documenting the way you travel and all the interesting experiences amidst that is a great way to revisit them or share them with your friends and family! Identifying this need, for myself and others like me, I created Outside the Bubble.
What is Outside the Bubble?
A journal designed for travelers to document their journey in a unique and creative way. It is also a tool that facilitates them while traveling. The journal has different layouts to preserve different kinds of memories, at the same time it is minimalistic enough for the travelers who sketch a lot, or prefer a blank journal.
See what's the journal like:
Along with these six main sections, the journal also has a few cool things:
Thank you cards: I designed a page with a multiple tear off 'thank-you' cards that you can give to people you meet on the trip. It's an easy and subtle way to break ice for future conversations, or preserved as a souvenir.
Guided section breakers: In the beginning of every section, along with the title and section, there are a few example ideas on how to document for that section effectively. It's personally sourced from travelers and their journals.
Back Interior Pocket: The journal also has back pocket to store your favorite items you collect on the trip.
Vision: Creating A Community For Travelers
We have a vision for this project that's bigger than a journal. We want to help travelers and aspiring travelers connect with each other via creative journaling and a medium to express experiences. And this journal is just a small step towards it. Please contribute in any way you can, or share with someone you know who loves traveling, and journaling, and want to connect with other travelers.
We will publish filled journals, and help backers stay connected with other members of the community. Watch this space for more details.
Thank you for your support! We're constantly looking out for ways in which we can better this vision and our step towards it. If you have any feedback/recommendations or simply say hi, you can write to us at: email@example.com
