A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

After constant suffering from being in uncomfortable noise frequencies in loud environments, we decided that ear plug solutions currently on the market were not satisfying. They either didn’t work, were too complex, or didn’t look good enough for regular use in our daily lives.
A diverse team of engineers, designers, and audio professionals decided to create a new ear plug design. One that would do the job right and look good while doing it. That’s how we decided to develop Wavix.
Our team of designers started sketching, and we produced iterations on hundreds of concepts through 3D-printed and machined prototypes which we tested on thousands of ears until we got it right.
In the end, the design we discovered for Wavix turned out to be simple and elegant. Soft and supple silicone eartips fit comfortably within the ear canal to allow for a secure, air-tight fit. The body of Wavix’s shape is optimized to fit a wide range of people and tuned to attenuate sound frequencies from low-to-high for hearing protection without sounding muffled.
Wavix’s body is made from military grade metals such as aluminum or titanium to enhance durability and ensure long life. Below are some sound frequency response graphs that we have measured in our sound engineering lab.
Throughout our everyday lives, from early morning to late at night, we are exposed in our environment to many sounds at a high volume that are harmful to our hearing. From construction on roads and traffic, to loud music at a concert or club, they’re often at volumes that cause progressive hearing loss, which is an escalating, irreversible disorder that can be avoided. Wavix works by attenuating and blocking loud noises to protect your ears from progressive hearing loss and other negative conditions.
To use Wavix, pick the best ear tips that fit you and gently pull your ear while inserting it. Ensure Wavix is secure, and enjoy a quieter environment. It’s that easy!
Wavix is made using a process called Swiss CNC turning. It’s a high-volume production process designed to turn small round parts rapidly and accurately by machine. We chose this cost-effective manufacturing method to both ensure a high-quality product and finish while maintaining a competitive price.
Wavix is made from 6061 T6 aluminum or 6/4 titanium aircraft grade materials that are used on high-performance aircraft and military applications. Both varieties of metal materials make Wavix incredibly durable. They will last for years to come.
The idea behind Wavix was conceptualized two years ago and we have been developing it ever since.
We discovered the need for Wavix when we were in our early 20's. We started college, and happily experienced newfound freedoms. We often went out to various bars, clubs, and concerts with friends and classmates. In some weeks, we went out literally every single day or night.
We participated in various social activities like clubbing or attending music concerts at festivals. We had a great time with the bumping and thumping music, but we noticed that after a night of revelry, our ears would ring and hurt, sometimes for days at a time.
We thought that with so many other people obviously facing this same issue, there must be an answer. We quickly discovered to our dismay that there was not!
We tried using regular foam earplugs without much success. They were unsightly! So, that was embarrassing. They were difficult to put into our ears with the hustle and bustle around us. Even when we got them into our ears, they would eventually fall out, defeating the whole point.
We tried other options that were either hard to use, or just didn’t look or fit the occasion. As we continued our late-night adventures, the ringing in our ears persisted. We had no viable way to fix it. It was something we would just have to deal with. One night, a member of our group planned to meet his girlfriend at a well-known club in Los Angeles and invited us all along. We thought, “Oh man it’s going to be noisy in there!” And it sure was, as our group, his girlfriend, and several of her friends ran towards each other, we collided on the side of the dance floor where, as it happened, was positioned right in front of the massive speakers. It was so loud you could feel the music reverberate throughout your body and it shake it internally. Sure enough, after that our ears rang, once again our hearing felt impaired. But this time was different. While our hearing was temporarily disrupted in the earlier events, it always returned to normal within a day, usually a few hours at most. This time it lingered. Weeks later, the ringing and hearing impairment didn’t resolve. It was permanent hearing damage!
It was from this starting point that, years later, we wanted to find a solution. We know this problem affects thousands of people each year. And while they might not all be at concerts or night clubs, there are plenty of daily life activities where we are exposed to very high levels of sound that could cause significant hearing damage. That’s why Wavix was born, to solve these issues.
Through our years of development, we created Wavix to help solve the problems of having easy-to-use hearing protection that also looks and feels good.
Once we have completed our fundraising goal, you will have access to the most revolutionary design in stylish and practical earplugs in the modern world. Our intention is to reach thousands of people and make a socially responsible impact on the world. All of our supporters will be noted on a special page on our website. You’ll receive regular updates on our progress, which we expect to be swift and timely, thanks to the capable engineering professionals that started with us from the beginning and have been in the company for two years. You’ll be among the very first to wear this groundbreaking technology, and keep your hearing truly safe for the first time with a product that will be easy to use in your daily life. We will be able to spread some good karma to the entire world, as we know that Wavix is really going to help people. The future for Wavix is bright, and we’re excited to have you join us on this adventure. Thanks a lot for your continued support.
With your support for Wavix, we will be enabled to bring this product to market and share it with thousands of people. Funds will be used for manufacturing, fulfillment, and the shipping of the product. We have completed enough development work on our own prior to launch to ensure that Wavix is ready for production.
Risks and challenges
We believe that have developed Wavix to be mature enough to enter production quickly and to deliver to our backers within the date and time committed. While we do not anticipate any major roadblocks, there may be unforeseen problems that arise that the Wavix team will have to promptly address. In such events we will keep our backers up-to-date and informed as much as possible.
