About this project
Brite Eyes Brewing Co, LLC is a start up microbrewery locating in Kalamazoo, MI. We're focused on creating balanced, hand crafted ales in small batches, using local ingredients whenever possible. Our intent is to open a modestly sized brewery/tap room featuring a deli style menu with fresh sliced meats, house baked breads, and locally roasted coffee and espresso drinks. We'll brew our signature ales on a 1 barrel pilot system, allowing us the flexibility to create a rotating menu of experimental ales, as well as our main stay beers.
Currently in our market research stage, we're conducting tastings and soliciting feedback on our creations.
The goal for our Kickstarter campaign is to raise needed funds to upgrade our current 1/2 barrel system to a full 1 barrel pilot brew rig, enabling us to keep up with anticipated demand in our tap room.
How can I help?
You can help us in two ways – pledging money so that we can meet our Kickstarter goal and sharing the campaign with your friends and family.
Pledging is easy:
1. Create a Kickstarter account.
2. Log in using Facebook, Amazon, or your email and password.
3. Choose how much you want to donate and select your reward level.
4. Share our campaign via Facebook, Twitter, email, phone calls, texts, whatever!
Because Kickstarter is an all or nothing funding source, you won't be charged unless we reach our goal. We have set our goal to meet the minimum we would need to properly upgrade our system. If we have met our goal ahead of the campaign end date, still consider donating. There are many additions we would love to make to the base system we have priced out ;)
Thank you for your consideration and support!

Risks and challenges
Starting a brewery can be a long, expensive process. We took our time over the past several years in the planning stage, and have spent the last several months conducting market research. Now we're accelerating towards selecting our tap room location. Our challenge is to hold the lease on a location while going through the lengthy licensing process, and simultaneously paying for the build out and needed equipment. Our plan is to focus our funds on renovating the space and the deli/coffee house equipment we'll need to open for food service during the brewers license process. While we could use our current 1/2 barrel brewery equipment, our market research tells us this system will be under sized to handle anticipated demand. This is where Kickstarter comes in. We need to step up to a full 1 barrel pilot system. This will allow us to keep our main 6 beers on tap along side an additional 6 taps of rotating seasonal ales.

Pledges in the amount of $200 or more get an invitation to our Grand Opening Eve party. While we plan to soft open with our full deli/coffee house menu ahead of receiving our brewers license, we wont do our grand opening until we're serving our beers. The licensing process can be some what unpredictable, so we'll have to keep everyone updated on the exact date of the party. We are estimating August of 2014 for now, and look forward to seeing you all there!!!
