Hurdle is the documentary feature film that tells the story of a new generation of Palestinian living in the shadow of a wall. With defiant creativity, they prove that no matter the height of the obstacle, one can always climb.
What is Hurdle?
Hurdle is a documentary film about resilience, self-determination and creativity in the face of the most harrowing odds. From brotherhood and faith to gunshot wounds and arrests, we were there to document the everyday reality of our characters. The result will be a film with amazing access, stunning visuals and a profound story.
Why is Hurdle Important?
In a tense and sometimes violent conflict environment, Hurdle reveals the depth and layers of its young Muslim Palestinian characters. The film will help a diverse audience connect on a human level with a community that is often misunderstood in the mainstream narrative.
What is our timeline?
Hurdle has been in the making for almost three years! We shot the film from November 2016 - December 2017 in Palestinian East Jerusalem and the Occupied West Bank. Over the course of this dramatic year, our team documented the lives of young men living on both sides of the Israeli separation wall as they led their community in creative response to injustices.
How you can help:
We are now in post-production working tirelessly to get the film finished for an early 2019 debut. Your support will go toward things like color correction, sound design, music licensing, animation and helping us with our world premiere and film festival run in 2019! We are going to try all that we can to bring our characters to our world premiere so that they can watch themselves on the big screen and answer your questions face to face.
Our primary challenge in completing this film with the excellence it deserves is funding. As an independently financed film, we rely exclusively on donations, non-profit grant support, and crowd-funding to finance the expenses that come with directing, producing and editing a feature-length documentary film. We hope to rely on our grassroots community for support in order to make sure this campaign is successfully funded and our film is completed to the highest standard.

Risks and challenges
We have already completed production, so the only thing standing between us and a finished film is post-production! We're on a pretty tight post-production schedule to make sure the film is ready for festival submissions in late 2018, but (with your help) we're confident that we have the time to finish without sacrificing quality.
Depending on festival and distribution negotiations, it is possible that the timing of Hurdle's release to our backers may be delayed, but we commit to doing everything we can to make sure we get the film to you as soon as possible!
We're determined to share the story of Hurdle. And we appreciate your support in helping us finish a high-quality film!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
