NEW STRETCH GOALS~
Given the success of our fundraising project so far, we have decided to add these new Stretch Goals to make the most of our Kickstarter fundraiser! With these new goals also comes new rewards! Please take a look at what we are offering to donors should we reach these goals!
NEW GOALS and REWARDS:
$4,000 would allow us to make a series of short videos based off the L'Enfer archives. The videos would be 3-5 minutes each and would be included in the exhibitions of our work at the Cite Internationale des Arts residency.
All donors over $50 would receive, in addition to the already listed rewards, a signed, limited edition print of a video still from the series.
$5,000 would give us the means to make an original, limited edition artists book! The book would include all the images from our photographic series, video-stills from our video series, as well as information and images about the L'Enfer archive. We envision the book as a catalog of our project, and will include our personal notes and selected essays that influence and shape our practice.
All donors over $100 would receive, in addition to the already listed rewards, a signed, limited edition copy of our book!
We hope you take advantage of these great rewards!
Much love from Paris and beyond, Kris and Alison. XOX

Five years after completing our BFA’s together at Columbia College Chicago, we coincidentally move to France at the same time in the fall of 2001. The more time we spent together sight-seeing, museum-hopping, late-night-skyping, consuming copious amounts of coffee while musing on French feminist poetics, we discovered a profound intersection in our individual practices and research, and decided to become artistic collaborators. With our very first project proposal, we are excited to learn that we have been awarded a four month-long residency to complete a collaborative project at the Cité Internationale des Arts Program in Paris. The residency will provide us with a studio space and access to a wide range of facilities to work and research in the center of one of the most culturally rich and historic cities in the world.
Our project is to create a series of photographs and video-performances based on the world’s largest archive of erotica called L’Enfer. The archive is comprised of more than 1,700 books, photographs, and prints dating back to the year 1800. It consists of both anonymous and unknown artists as well as many icons of French culture such as the Marquis de Sade, Charles Baudelaire, and Georges Bataille. Our interest in this archive lies in the historical depiction of the female body. In our research, we will cull images and text in order to re-appropriate them in a contemporary discourse. We will combine our backgrounds in painting, photography, video, and theory to create a body of work that deals with issues in feminist philosophy.
