About
We expect transparency in our purchases, our food and the White House - Why not journalism? Due to the requirement to feed the ‘content monster’ on social media, and a low barrier to entry in journalism, click bait has become extremely popular in order to gain ‘readers’ that boost analytics. The secondary and tertiary effects of the current practice have been a significant decrease in quality and an increase in output.
Jaydential is a User Generated Content (UGC) web platform that collaborates reviews and ratings of journalists into a Jaydential Score. Each journalist will have their own Jaydential Score that will follow them throughout their career. The scores will create a system of accountability for journalists – holding them to a higher standard.
Jaydential’s competitive advantage is the implementation of a user-generated score (similar to a personal credit score) that follows each journalist throughout his or her career. The scores afford readers the opportunity to understand the quality of the content they’re reading.
In order to gain the attention of the target market, Jaydential will effectively market to small market media outlets who want to have their journalists recognized for their great work.
Jaydential has the opportunity to impact the quality of journalism by creating transparency through UGC.
Risks and challenges
Our primary challenge is acquiring talent that is able to develop a good filter for ratings and scoring in order to maintain integrity through quality and ethics. A good filter will prevent users from 'gaming' the system in order to affect someone's Jaydential Score.
Finding the right talent to develop this filter is our challenge to overcome, which we have already began problem-solving.
