Long ago, a great evil came from beyond and sought to enslave the people of earth. The world fell into darkness and despair, but just as all hope was about to be lost a Wizard gathered to him Seven Houses of mighty warriors and drove the evil from the land.
With the ancient evil banished, the Seven Battle Houses sought to prove which amongst them was the mightiest. But the Wizard swore the Houses to an oath; never to war upon each other, and to use their abilities to protect the earth and its people. Thus he proclaimed them “Karumkai.”
Since the time of the oath, the Karumkai have lived in secret, combating evil and protecting the innocent. Every few years the Battle Houses face one another in a sanctioned tournament…This is one of those years. It is a year to Get Blue!
Get Blue! is a collectible table top game of spinning discs, big-time collisions and magnetic action. Our goal through Kickstarter is to raise enough funds to manufacture and distribute a wide release of the Get Blue! Starter Set AND get this fun game - as well as other cool stuff - into your hands!
Here’s how the game is played: Players score points by spinning their discs into tiles and “capturing” them. To set your disc spinning, flick it with your finger (fig. 1). Points are scored when a disc attaches to and knocks over a tile (fig. 2). Players lose points if a disc attaches to but does not knock over a tile (fig. 3).
How does a disc “attach” to a tile, you ask? That’s where the Magno-Force comes in. Inside each tile is a powerful magnet. And inside each plastic disc is a metal core. Combine a spinning metal disc with a rare earth neodymium magnet and you get Magno-Force Battle Action!
Each player has five discs to shoot at four tiles. Once you shoot all five discs, your turn is over and you set up the tiles for your opponent to try and score points. After three rounds, whoever has the most points wins.*
Sounds simple, right? Not so fast! Get Blue is a game of finesse, skill and strategy. It may be easy to learn, but only practice, reps, and table time will make you a master.

The Get Blue! team consists of players from two Seattle-based creative firms. FunHub Creative is a design and development studio dedicated to bringing games, gifts and novelties from concept to shelf. Bullseye Creative is an award-winning, high-impact, high-energy design and marketing group.
Together, we share mutual passions for collectibles, comics, retro-toys and unplugged play. We also share a desire to combine these passions in a fun and novel product.
Our goal was to create something that was simple and intuitive; something that harkened back to our favorite classic games such as Battling Tops, Crossfire and Rockem Sockem Robots; games where noise, action, and big-time collisions were all part of the play experience. However, we also wanted to create something that delivered more than a simple game play experience. We wanted to create awesome characters and dynamic story narratives; something that lent context and collectablity to a game. Thus, Get Blue! was born.
As a principal at FunHub Creative, Steve "Bono" Hart has been involved in the design and development of many award winning games, including: Dread Pirate, Stretch Run, Raceway '57 and Old Century Baseball. You can check out the FunHub portfolio of games and industry awards at www.funhubcreative.com.
Bullseye Creative, founded in 1996 by brothers James and Peter Klauser, is one of Seattle's premier design and marketing agencies. The Bullseye Creative crew is a small team of passionate superheroes who love their work, and it shows!
First and foremost, Get Blue! is a passion project, which is what Kickstarter is all about. Kickstarter was designed to allow creatively spirited people to share their passions with others. With over three years of developing, testing and refining Get Blue! we're ready to spread the fun. Monies raised through Kickstarter will go towards manufacturing, shipping and distribution of the first Get Blue! starter set. Better yet, the Kickstarter platform of stretch goals is designed so that the more support a project receives the better the game can be, which also means more cool stuff for you! And that’s exactly what we would like to do with Get Blue!

Risks and challenges
After spending over three years in design and development on Get Blue! we have seen our share of challenges and obstacles, all of which we have successfully found solutions to. We have sourced and vetted factories overseas and are currently working off a test tool for ten counter samples of the Get Blue starter set.
The Kickstarter funding is allocated to producing a 5,000 unit production run of the Get Blue! starter set, with budgeting that include materials, manufacturing, tooling, die and molds as well as securing and facilitating distribution for the initial product run.
In regards to risks and challenges, perhaps the question we get asked most is, "Are these powerful magnets safe?" And the answer is, "Yes!" The primary safety concern with powerful magnets is swollowing hazard. That's why we've encased our magnets in very durable, molded plastic, making the tiles too large to swallow. In addition, we have already passed a critical pinch point safety test. To address any and all safety concerns we are working in close partnership with Linmark International, a highly experienced and reputable sourcing house, to ensure we comply with all safety regulations.
However there can also be a number of different, yet unlikely, actions that could occur, such as our factory shutting down, or the price of rare earth magnets going up, or the cargo ship - with our games on board - sinking in a storm. Heck, the chief steward of this project, Steve Hart could be abducted by Bigfoots on one of his expeditions. Not to worry ... We are confident that we have these contingencies covered. With over 12 years experience in the game industry, we have brought over two dozen games from concept to shelf and we are truly prepared for any setbacks. If our factory closes we will simply move to another. In the event that the cost of rare earth materials go up, this will not affect your pledges and rewards. Those are locked in. (Retail cost will simply be adjusted when we go to market.) If the cargo ship carrying all our games happens to sink, part of our fund raise is allocated to securing insurance for this project so we would just go back into production. And if Steve happens to be abducted by Bigfoots, the rest of the Get Blue! team will be ready to take the reins on this project (and Steve will be immortalized on the Karumkai Wall of Honor forever more).
Our goal is to not only fulfill this passion project, but to honor your support of Get Blue! by delivering your rewards to you on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
For a game as simple and intuitive as this we wanted a simple name.In Get Blue! not all tiles are created equal.A starter set features three red tiles and one blue tile.Red tiles are worth one point and a blue tile is worth two points.A starter set also features one double point disc (flame icon).Capture the blue tile with a double point disc and you score four points. Thus getting the blue tile is key to winning a game.
