I want to tell the story of politics as a social, approachable activity, how I found it.
Please support me in producing a distinctive photographic 10x8" (25x20cm) story-book you can own featuring images taken in the final 100 days of the 2012 elections in the US.
The news will tell you all that is banal and disappointing and even hopeless about our politics, but I have found there is always an inspiring narrative behind why people choose to band together and pool their efforts in the face of this.
If you sponsor this Kickstarter campaign you will be taking part in a spontaneous one-of-a-kind story about social politics in 2012. It may well be your story already, and that's why I hope you will get involved.
The Last 100 days is meant to be a visual history of collective action in a depressing time.
Along the way, I will post frequent updates for sponsors with observations (images and possibly video clips) on the events I am covering, and I will open up discussion-topics on the structure I am considering for the book as I accumulate images and the final story comes into view.
Already booked are a shoot on a party being thrown on board an Amtrak train, The Carolinian, which will be en route to the Democratic National Committee Convention in Charlotte, NC. I will roam the convention itself with a floor pass, and I will also document numerous celebrations, rallies, and field organizing days all over the North East. I will cover speeches, fund-raisers, and all sorts of nitty gritty. Lastly, I will cover Get Out The Vote, and Election Day itself to close the piece.
This book will feature my own brand of candid photography showcasing politics up close, whatever I can get at. All sponsorship sought on this page will be directed towards printing and shipping costs for the production of a book via blurb.com. I can and will run around and take the pictures on my own. I need your help and your collective action to pull this together as a classy analog document of our times.
