About this project
THE PUSH is a documentary film that focuses on Grant Korgan, an adventure athlete and former nanoscientist who became the first spinal-cord injured athlete in history attempting to ski the final degree of latitude to the bottom of the world ~ to Antarctica's geographic South Pole.
- Grant and Shawna Korgan's story
After becoming paralyzed from a snowmobiling accident just 5 months after marrying Shawna, the woman of his dreams, Grant Korgan was told he would never walk again.
Yet despite his prognosis, he and Shawna focused on the goal of 120% recovery. Shawna, a health and wellness expert, took his recovery head-on and with the same drive and tenacity as Grant. She worked with doctors and therapists to devise a rigorous plan that aligned with Grant’s recovery goals and enabled him to literally "push" himself to the geographic South Pole, less than two years after his injury.
Shawna was ever-believing, and ever by his side all throughout his recovery, telling him not to change his goals and push hard toward his dreams. Remarkably, he now feels to his knees, walks with two canes, is a published author, a three-time TEDX thought leader, and an in-demand motivational speaker across the country.
On January 17, 2012, Grant reached the bottom of our world on the 100th anniversary when Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s Terra Nova expedition arrived at the earth’s most remote spot. In August 2015, Korgan broke the record for the human powered circumnavigation of Lake Tahoe by over two hours, finishing the 72 mile paddle in just 14 hours and 15 minutes. Throughout all his adventures and accomplishments, Grant credits Shawna, who he says makes all things possible.
Together they've chronicled their amazing story within his first book, Two Feet Back, in the hope of inspiring people from all walks of life to achieve the seemingly insurmountable.
- The Film
THE PUSH uncovers the capacity of human spirit across a multi-year journey from Grant's accident to his historic, record-breaking South Pole expedition. Along with a team of trusted friends and experienced guides, Grant and his team reached their destination on the 100th anniversary of the first explorers to travel to the South Pole. Facing brutal elements, demanding topography and presumed physical limitations are just some of the challenges they faced along the way. Yet the true story that unfolds is a great example of inspiration for all of us to live up to our own ultimate potential.
- Schedule & Budget
We plan to finish the film by July of this year so we can meet the submission deadline of the The Sundance Film Festival where we hope to obtain worldwide distribution of THE PUSH. The Producers of THE PUSH have had successes with major international film festivals and obtaining worldwide distribution on prior films. With over $800,000 already spent to capture the footage, 100% of the Kickstarter funds raised will be used to pay for the post-production. This includes editing, sound design, score, licensing fees, hard drives, and even insurance.
- Our Goal & Profits from the Film
What makes this project so exciting for us and all involved is the opportunity to raise meaningful funds for our incredible partner, the High Fives Foundation, whose mission is to support the dreams of mountain action sports athletes by raising injury prevention awareness and providing resources to those who suffer life-altering injuries. After creating this documentary, our goal is to sell the film and donate 100% of the profits to High Fives Foundation. Please help us create more positivity for the world via giving resources to this amazing cause, which has the ability to help many.

GRANT KORGAN - Cast / Producer
“I believe that humanity’s natural state is one of positivity, greatness, and, ultimately, love,” begins Grant as he shares with others what he knows about the power of positivity, achieving goals regardless of circumstance, and the importance of remembering that life is happening right now, in this moment, with or without our permission."
SHAWNA KORGAN - Cast / Producer
Shawna believes that one of the greatest gifts we can ever receive as human beings is to be of service to others, and she found herself receiving this beautiful gift – the gift of not just being of service to any human being, but a human being that is the essence of her heart, the shining light in her life, her husband, her True North.
TAL FLETCHER - Cast / Producer
Marin County native Tal Fletcher is an expert in assessing weather, snow safety, emergency medical care, rescue, evacuation, winter mountaineering and group dynamics.

Not finding a marathon to run that particular day, he went to a track where he ran it in flip-flops.
In the past, Tal had guided a ski tour on the Antarctic Coast, and this expedition marked Tal’s first journey to the South Pole. For Tal Fletcher, this adventure is about using determination, strategy and teamwork to help his close friend accomplish amazing goals. And for Tal, that’s what life is all about.

RONNIE PARKER - Creative Director
RhinoHub has done exactly as the name implies, time and again. Our appreciation for marketing’s tried-and-true formulas and infatuation with the endless pursuit of “what ifs” has given us a personality that’s as much Jules Verne as it is David Ogilvy.
We tinker. We try. We wrinkle our foreheads, wonder far, wander wide, and arrive at successful solutions for those who appreciate the potent mixture of imagination and experience.
CODY KNIGHT - Creative
Beneath his calm, cool, beach boy demeanor, Cody goes about life with amazing intensity. It’s a trait that follows him from the fields to the studio and everywhere in between. First and foremost, he’s an artist. Creating since a young age, Cody’s skills are focused on design but his passion to create runs well beyond whenever the “job” is done. He’s a student of woodworking, photography, and drawing.
Cody has traveled to more than 25 countries, climbed countless mountain ranges hunting wild game, raced professional motocross, and mastered shooting, white water kayaking and snowboarding. Now on to his latest passion: scuba diving. He loves meeting new people, diving into new cultures and taking fresh perspective on every creative opportunity he comes across, a perspective that goes a long way toward boosting his design talent to even greater heights.
