Skies of Fire is a limited comic series by Vincenzo Ferriero and Ray Chou, with art by Pablo Peppino and Bryan Valenza. Skies was launched in 2014 has remained 100% independent through crowdfunding and the support of our fans.
This campaign's goal is to raise funds for a high quality, clothbound first volume of Skies of Fire, collecting the first four issues. The book is the first trade collection we've produced and represents a huge milestone for Mythopoeia.
We're creating a collected trade because we're sold out of our floppy comics. Thanks our fans we've sold over 15,000 copies of Skies of Fire to date! Though we've thought about just continuing on with floppies, a trade allows us to better streamline our inventory and opens up distribution channels for Mythopoeia, and is imperative for the continuation of Skies of Fire.
Skies of Fire takes place in the Aquilan Empire, a kingdom where airship travel has become the dominant means of transportation, commerce, and war. In the center of the Empire lies a monstrous, never-ending storm called The Expanse.
In Issue One, the raider Delmonte orchestrates a surprise attack on the key trade outpost, Port Prince. His actions prompt Royal Guard Captain Helen Pierce to volunteer for an expedition to bring him to justice.
In Issue Two, Captain Pierce enlists the help of the elusive William.
Issue Three follows the pair as they recruit members for their mission in the bordertown of Copperhead.
In Issue Four, the crew of the Zephyr must come together despite their differences.
Vincenzo Ferriero and Ray Chou have been creating stories together since 2008. They met in college and continue to collaborate despite being 5,437 miles apart.
Pablo Peppino is a an illustrator from Argentina with a focus on sequential art.
Bryan Valenza is a prolific artist based in Jakarta, Indonesia. He currently occupies his time coloring various projects from top publishers in the industry.
Alexandur Bucur is an architect and illustrator with an interest in history and military hardware of all kinds. When not at his drawing table he can be found standing at attention in a swanky uniform for the benefit of the Military Traditions branch of the Romanian Army.
Josephe Vandel is a German cartographer and graphic designer with a love for RPGs and creating fictional worlds.
The majority of funds from this Kickstarter will go into covering the cost of printing the book and fulfilling orders from this Kickstarter. Any remaining money will be put back into further production of Skies of Fire.
Skies of Fire Volume I is 8x11" clothbound hardcover with 120 pages including sequentials, codex documents, and variant covers.. The book features a new wraparound cover by Pablo de Bonis featuring the city of Monterey.
The prints have been carefully selected from some of the most iconic scenes in Skies of Fire using the highest quality archival paper.

Risks and challenges
This is our 7th (!) campaign so crowdfunding is an old hat for us. For this campaign, the creators have financially assumed most of the risk in this campaign by advancing the cash necessary to print the book. In other words, so long as we get the money, we'll be able to quickly fulfill the campaign.
Otherwise, the biggest risk is in timely fulfillment. Last campaign we wrapped up two months after the closing day ended. Just like last time, we'll do our best to close the campaign as soon as we can. Everything is in place for this to happen - all items are in stock and ready to be shipped out.
If we don't succeed in this campaign, Vince and I are out about $10,000. That would not be good for our creative endeavors - not necessarily stop them, but severely slow us down. So please help us make sure that doesn't happen!
Things can and do happen throughout the course of a campaign, but we've always made it a policy to be transparent and update our backers frequently. If you have any issues, please don't hesitate to contact us - we do our best to make sure everyone is 100% satisfied.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
