Everything is just about ready and books are shipping soon!

Posted by Silence in the Library Publishing (Creator)

The books are on their way to me from the printer, we've got the decks of cards, postcards, and prints in hand. On Monday, Erin is making her way to Salt Lake with the original art and her signature so her and I can sign all of the books before they make their way to you, our dear backers. We'll take plenty of pictures to share with you.

I know the book is a few weeks later than we thought it was going to be and I want to thank you all for being patient with us. If you happen to be at the Salt Lake Comic-Con FanX, Erin and I will be there, signing the books and getting all of that ready while we're at the Con, so you can actually meet us AND pick up your books. We'll even throw in an extra postcard with Scout's Abraham Lincoln if you find us.

If you had a request you wanted to make as far as which president you wanted a print of, please let me know!

I'm excited for you guys to have the physical books in your hands. The whole project has turned out great and it's all thanks to you. If you've been through your PDF copy (we're still working on a technical issue with the eBook copies) and are interested in reviewing the book on Goodreads or Amazon, we'd REALLY appreciate it.

ALSO!: Silence in the Library has a new book launching on Kickstarter this week, too, so be sure to watch out for more details on that. Check the Silence in the Library website frequently!

Thanks again! I can't wait to get these in your hands!

Your first digital copy of the book!

President's Day Update (Almost)

Posted by Silence in the Library Publishing (Creator)

Due to technical difficulties I wasn't able to get this update to you for President's Day, but I thought it was important to send out anyway.

The book is with the designer and we're hoping to still be on track to deliver physical copies next month as promised.

We've hit a snag or two (basically weather issues involving our artist in the middle of the Polar Vortex) so we didn't have everything together for the designer on our original timeline, so we might be closer to the very end of March or the very beginning of April.

The manuscript went through another round of editing and fact checking, the art looks fantastic, and the portraits Scout has been putting together for backers are nothing short of phenomenal.

In fact, here's her rendition of Abraham Lincoln:

And since I don't want to give Erin short shrift, here is Erin's rendition of the Garfield Assassination…

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Thank you for being patient, this is going to be a truly gorgeous book!

Athena's Daughters Kickstarter

Posted by Silence in the Library Publishing (Creator)

It has come to my attention that I haven't made an update here specifically mentioning the newest book that Silence in the Library is Kickstarting. It's a sci-fi/fantasy anthology  called Athena's Daughters and I think many (all) of you would love it.

Athena's Daughters has about 30 hours left to run, and, with all of the stretch goals we've met, you can get:

(1) Athena's Daughters, an anthology of speculative fiction by women about women with authors like Gail Z. Martin, Mary Robinette Kowal, Sherwood Smith, and Janine K. Spendlove and illustrations for every story by Autumn Frederickson and cover art by Tietjen Alvarez. Oh, and an introduction by retired astronaut and Shuttle Commander Pam Melroy!

(2) The companion anthology Apollo's Daughters featuring authors like me, Aaron Allston, David Mack, John Jackson Miller, and Michael A. Stackpole and illustrations for every story by Elias Pate and cover art by Joe Corroney with coloring by Brian Miller…and an introduction by Dr. John Mather, winner of the 2006 Nobel Prize for Physics.

(3) 5 additional eBooks at no additional cost

(4) 16 additional digital short stories at no additional cost

(5) 2 audio books at no additional cost

You get all of that for $10 for the eBook version (or $5 if you don't want the companion anthology), $45 for the trade paperback (or $25 if you don't want the companion anthology), or $60 for the hardcover of Athena's Daughters and the trade paperback of Apollo's Daughters (or $40 if you don't want the companion anthology).

Here's the link:

I can't recommend it enough.

For those who want a quick update on THIS book, Erin is finished with all of the illustration, Scout is hard at work finishing up the original art she owes you and the designer is about to get all the files. And let me tell you, it all looks great!

But, in the meantime, Athena's Daughters is what you want.

A project update!

I have a few bits of news I wanted to share with you!

First off: Paul S. Kemp (you might remember him from his Egil and Nix novels or his work in the Star Wars universe) has delivered the introduction to the book and I have to say it's quite incredible! He did a fantastic job with it and I could not be more proud with how the book is going to look and feel.

Secondly: The stretch goal of a short story that tuckerized a backer (one Andy Wilson) is finished and I'm quite proud of that as well. Erin is hard at work illustrating that story as well...

And speaking of Erin, I wanted to give you guys another taste of the illustrations that she's been doing for the book, which you can see at the end of this update.

BUT! There's a new Kickstarter from Silence in the Library you need to check out! It's called Athena's Daughters. It's a sci-fi/fantasy anthology about female characters by all female authors like Janine Spendlove, Gail Z. Martin, Mary Robinette Kowal, and many more.

AND: if this project reaches the $24,000 level, I'll be editing a companion anthology featuring all female characters, but by some of the coolest men in science fiction, people like myself, Michael A. Stackpole, Aaron Allston, and Aaron Rosenberg.

So, back it and back it big:

And, without further ado, we have President William McKinley, assassinated by the anarchist Leon Czolgosz:
