HAMMERSTEP is forever changing the face of dance. Well known by international television audiences for their performance on "America's Got Talent” in 2013, Hammerstep was founded in 2009 by two-time solo World Champion Irish dancer Garrett Coleman and former lead of Riverdance Jason Oremus.
The Brooklyn, NY based group is an organized arsenal of stage performance, public ambush dance & guerrilla street marketing, community organizing & action, outreach initiatives, and alternative media coverage. Hammerstep’s raw and percussion-driven approach to artistic expression draws from various historically rebellious dance forms, including Irish, tap, hip hop, African stepping, and more. The result is a mind-bending audiovisual assault delivered through an explosive soundscape, groundbreaking use of technology, and thought-provoking themes.
“Innovative...entertaining...the audience loved it - more please!” - The Edinburgh Reporter UK
Directors Garrett Coleman and Jason Oremus are breaking new ground through their innovative choreography and by employing a range of audiovisual responsive technologies. Their revolutionary approach to dance is set to fresh original music by some of the world's best musicians, including all-Ireland fiddle champion Patrick Mangan, DJ GoldenChild, renowned drummer Chuck Palmer, and Grammy-nominated musician/composer Dave Eggar.
Hammerstep has performed worldwide, from New York City's famed Lincoln Center to the UK’s Palace Theatre, to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012. In June 2013, the group performed on America’s Got Talent to great acclaim.
"Your skill level is so high that you're impossible to ignore." - Howard Stern, US Radio personality, America's Got Talent judge 2013

Risks and challenges
As a self-produced and groundbreaking show, Indigo Grey faces unique technical and logistical challenges. Finding and building with the right venue for a show like this could cause some delays in production. In an immersive high-technology and performing arts environment, safety concerns (lights can blow, drones can crash, projectors can fail) must be thoroughly examined and technical mishaps carefully addressed. Interaction with the audience in an immersive show environment needs to be pre-tested, well-rehearsed and carefully planned.
With 20 years performance experience and over 5 years of Hammerstep production, we have developed an extremely dedicated, tight-knit international team, including a highly capable project manager, highly-qualified technical team assembled from some of the biggest productions in the world, and a talented, creative team of artists ready for the challenge. An A-Z project structure plan has been carefully developed to assess and mitigate each individual potential risk.
