FROM RYAN LANDRY AND THE GOLD DUST ORPHANS
GREETINGS SUPER FRIENDS - For close to twenty years now, Ryan Landry and his theatrical troupe, The Gold Dust Orphans, have been playing to a remarkably diverse collection of friends and fans who have happily followed the gang from one hilarious night to the next. Each play or musical based on a classic film, play or television series, the Orphans pride themselves on taking each individual audience on a mind blowing trip through dozens of familiar themes. Everything from Dr. Seuss' Grinch, ("How Mrs. Grinchley Swiped Christmas") to Euripedes "Medea".Consider Landry's take on Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman" ("Death of a Saleslady") which played to rave reviews or his award winning nod to Tennessee Williams' "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" ("Pussy on the House"). The Orphans love to tackle all sorts of vintage dramas from Hitchcock's, "The Birds" ("The Gulls") to high minded gems such as Lillian Hellman's "The Little Foxes", ("The Little Pricks"). As one critic noted, concerning Landry's work, "he is a master of exceptionally well crafted comedies" . And the craftsmanship never stops! The Orphans now have well over 50 spectacular productions under their belts! Pretty impressive for a gaggle of misfits!
IN THE NEWS: Last year, with the support of their friends and fans, The Gold Dust Orphans were able to bring their hit "MILDRED FIERCE" to New York City. And what a hit it was! The raves included an unbelievable three quarter page in ...THE NEW YORK TIMES!!!
NOTE: THE ORPHANS ARE CONFIDENT THAT WITH ONE MORE HIT IN NEW YORK ... THEY CAN FINALLY GAIN NATIONAL RECOGNITION!
REVIEWS OF SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN BOTTOMS: Back in the spring of 2014, Landry lovingly brought the classic tale of a dizzy ingenue, seven dwarves and an evil queen to the Boston stage and his loyal audiences fell in love. Luckily, so did the critics! Don Aucoin of the Boston Globe - “Landry’s insouciant take on the classic tale of “Snow White” sparkles with his witty dialogue and his customary attention to detail." Terry Byrne of WGBH - "No need for a magic mirror to tell us this production of Snow White and the Seven Bottoms is the fairest of them all.”
THIS JUST IN: The unstoppable VARLA JEAN MERMAN will be joining The Gold Dust Orphans in New York City! Talk about STAR power!

Risks and challenges
The Gold Dust Orphans are not immune to the many other challenges that theater companies everywhere face! Making magic happen on the stage doesn't come cheap and we pinch pennies every day and in every way. We learned so much about bringing a show to New York last year so we feel extra-prepared to tackle just about any hurdle that comes our way. After many years of working together the Orphans can come together as a team and make it all happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
