About

I created this poem for my children during a difficult time in their lives and mine as we were going through divorce. I would like to inspire other single mothers and all mothers with young children to encourage creative thinking and an open mind through developing this poem into a classic children's picture board book. Others can often judge women with children for wanting to leave a marriage and blame them for a broken home. However, no one really knows what goes on behind closed doors in marriages despite outward appearances. I was inspired to write a poem to show my children that the traditional family life may not always work for every relationship and families come in all shapes and sizes and to "think outside the box" is not necessarily a bad thing and may lead one towards new possibilities and freedom to explore a lifetime. Please join me in spreading this message. I know there are so many women with young children that could use a lift at times and my babies loved their bedtime story board books reading classics such as Goodnight Moon and The Hungry Caterpillar alive with bright and amusing illustrations such as the ones designed for the poem. This book will be created as a classic as well introducing new imaginative and creative characters that will encourage children's own imaginations and creative endeavors and their unique ideas and musings for years to come.

Risks and challenges

There are not many risks in completing this project other than if it does not sell in which case I am happy to donate some of the books to schools and daycare centers. I'd also be interested in developing the characters in the poem further in the form of retail toys, games and clothing. The idea is to create creativity and expand the imaginations and inspiring creative goals from a young age.
