Space of the Art is creating the world’s first rare collectible series that will turn distant dreams into real life.
Everyone – including you – now has the opportunity to directly fund the future of Space Tourism.
SpaceDeck is the first monumental stepping-stone on this ambitious mission. We’ve brought together space tourism pioneers Zero2Infinity and world-renowned playing card brand Legends Playing Card Company to do something that’s never been done before.
We’re sending expertly crafted, exclusive playing cards into the stratosphere – and when they return to Earth, they’ll be the first collectibles that have touched Near Space. 100 limited edition SpaceDeck playing cards and 1000 special edition SpaceCards will be on board this milestone flight along with a screen showing pictures of all our backers!
The flight will be filmed to give backers an exhilarating glimpse into what a stratospheric ride will look like.(You’ll also get to see your picture floating at the edge of space!)
And the most exciting part?
100% of the profits will go towards scaling the development of Zero2Infinity’s Space Tourism capsule, Bloon.
Guess what that means? You. In a capsule. Ascending to the stratosphere. Viewing the curvature of the Earth and blackness of Space.
In as soon as the next 3 years.
We got inspired by how airmail and airshows helped kickstart commercial aviation in the 1920s. If aviation started with postcards, we might as well kickstart space transport with playing cards!
Founded by Jose Mariano in 2009, Zero 2 Infinity’s mission is to simplify access to space. Since 2009 they’ve been successfully lifting all kinds of payloads into Near Space using sophisticated balloon technology – and receiving wide recognition for it!
We decided to partner with Zero2Infinity to send our first Series of Space treasures into the stratosphere.
Zero2Infinity not only has an extensive track record in high altitude flights, they also have exquisite visions for the future. They have designed two vehicles that are going to revolutionize Space transport. The first one is a small satellite launcher that will be dropped from above the atmosphere (that’s to send satellite on orbit),
The second one is a Space tourism capsule to allow people like you and me to enjoy the view at the edge of space with no training, no emissions, and no accelerations. That is what we are rooting for! We found the idea having an exquisite fine dining at 120,000 ft (36km) altitude enjoying the view of our thin atmosphere so exciting that we decided to do our part to make this happen.
Yes, at the beginning the ticket will be expensive (around $130,000 for a 5 hour ride), a given for any new technology… think about the cost of plane tickets in the early age of aviation, or even the price of computer in the 1980s. What is needed to drop the price is to make it so common that a space balloon ride will cost as much as a Skydiving of today !
In the meantime we are creating ways for anyone to get involved and enjoy the experience. Creating beautiful space treasures, launching them to the stratosphere, and giving them back to our funders.
SpaceDeck is the first collectible you’ll get to keep as a token of your direct impact on the future of Space Tourism. These cards are nothing short of extraordinary – as the first cards going into space should be. Custom designed by renowned Russian card artist Nick Vlow and manufactured by industry leader Legends Playing Card Company, you’re looking at a luxury deck of supreme quality.
Spot UV printing process brings the reflections of the cosmos to the cards. Metallic rose gold ink is spread across the visors of the astronauts before a thin layer of UV coating creates a glossy overlay - just like an astronaut's visor.
Every detail of the reflective backing is delicately crafted with a space theme meticulously designed, producing a luxury deck that glistens with all the complex beauty of the stars.
Our imported premium card stock is thinner, yet stiffer than any other brand. We’ve sourced our paper from around the globe while constantly experimenting and tweaking in order to offer a deck of superior durability, feel, and quality.
Legend’s signature Diamond Cut process creates glass-like edges that feel buffed and smooth. Difficult sleight of hand tricks, card flourishes, and shuffles are performed with ease. Professional card handlers will instantly recognize the superior difference compared to other top-tier deck brands.
The artwork is a brilliant mixture of geometric designs and themes of space exploration. Each card is a work of art, sure to spark interest and intrigue in anyone who sees them. When a compliment is made – and compliments will be made – you’ll have the added joy of casually bringing up their trip to space by scanning the QR code on the Joker and how they are a token of your investment in Space Tourism.
Now that’s a conversation starter.
SpaceDeck and SpaceCard Edition come with a Mission box with the backer’s name on it. The Mission box is wrapped with a Spacesuit fabric to ensure your SpaceDeck is protected from cosmic radiations.
SpaceDeck will have a gold seal and numbered out of 100.
For each Space treasure we will deliver a certificate of authenticity to certify your Space treasure. We also include a normal deck of the earth edition so you can enjoy to play with it, and preserve the collectors edition in a safe place.
As an add on for this campaign, we offer a black carbon and a titanium card clip. These card clips are crafted from six layers of carbon fiber over a steel mold, baked inside an autoclave, and intricately hand-finished. Use them to hold cards together and squeeze out moisture for the longevity of your new favorite deck.
First, we pop the champagne. Then we start working towards our stretch goals.
Stretch Goal :
- $30,000: Mission T-Shirt offered as add-on in partnership with Grana.com
- $50,000: Before SpaceDeck mission, additional test flight for the screen that will display picture of the backers, to ensure reliability.
Using a large balloon filled with helium, our precious cargo along with video cameras, transceivers, and various technical equipment required by aviation authorities will be lifted into the sky on launch day. The SpaceDecks and SpaceCard will ascend to a height of approximately 38Km above sea level. That’s past 99% of Earth’s atmosphere and nearly 30kms above any commercial plane!
From this distance, our Space Treasures – and cameras - will witness the blue sky turning to black. Seeing the Earth from this viewpoint, the edges curving into space and the continents on full display, one may experience the overview effect.
Typically experienced by astronauts and cosmonauts viewing the Earth during spaceflight, this effect is best described as a shift in awareness. When you see the Earth from this distance, prepare to be awed by the unity of life on our little blue dot. This is the life-changing view that Space Tourism will finally provide to the public.
Once the journey is over, our Space Treasures will be released from the balloon and fall back to Earth in a controlled descent. The capsule will be recovered, fists will be bumped, and the precious cargo will be returned to our warehouse (still cold from near space) to be repackaged and shipped. The balloon is also recovered and recycled, creating zero environmental impact.
Oh - and if the capsule lands in water, we’re ready for that, too!
No one has ever attempted to crowd-fund the development of Space Tourism before. We intend to break down those walls and give the public a chance to directly have an impact on this bold technological leap. By supporting SpaceDeck and other Space of the Art missions to come, you’re choosing to take the initiative in Space Tourism. You’re choosing to say, “This is important to me”.
When you pledge to back SpaceDeck, you’ll receive a link to the flight video, exclusive updates, and your name and photo on the website. Depending on your pledge amount, you can also receive beautiful and rare tokens of your investment to prove the vital role you played in making Space Tourism a reality.
You can even be one of the first people to hold a ticket for Bloon.
100% of the profits from this mission will be reinvested to create more Space Treasure and continue to support the development of Bloon technology.
These developments include:
- Heavy Payload
- High Altitude
- Balloon flights
- Landing systems
- Recovery systems
- Pressurization systems
And the list goes on and on..
With Bloon, you’ll be able to safely and comfortably float into the stratosphere for the daytrip of a lifetime. Now that’s damn cool. The Bloon experience will consist of a 4-hour trip, floating up to a height of 36Kms before making a controlled and safe descent. At this distance, Space Tourists will have about 2 hours to revel in the magnificent sight of the Earth below them. And when they land, their view of life on Earth might be altered forever.
Zero 2 Infinity has been working on this technology for years, and has already accomplished many steps in the development of materials and flight logistics. In order to successfully fly the weight of the Bloon capsule (about 6T), many test flights must be successfully performed with payloads of increasing weight.
Features such as a guided paraglider for descent and airbags for landing must also be tested, tweaked, and perfected. Detailed design, manufacturing, and further testing of the final Bloon capsule must also be accomplished.
Space of the Art campaigns are here to educate the public of the possibility of Space Tourism while allowing a way for everyone to directly make it a reality. So make your pledge today, share our campaign on social media, and let’s see what the collective is really capable of.
Loic Alliez founded Space of the Art in 2015. Loic got involved in the space industry 2 years ago after meeting Jose Mariano, the owner of Zero2Infinity, at an aerospace convention. Inspired by Jose’s vision for Space Tourism and his approach to simplify access to anyone, Loic decided to get on board for the adventure. He met Leo hiking an erupting volcano… (yes that is important to mention!) They realized they were both involved in space tourism with high altitude balloons and decided to do SpaceDeck mission together.
By coincidence, the owner of Legends Playing Cards label just so happened to live in the same building as Loic. While trying to think of the perfect payload for Space of the Art’s first mission, he would joke around with Lawrence about flying some cards to space. But that joke seemed so crazy... it just might work.
Aum joined this group of Science, Cards and Space geeks inspired by this crazy idea and because she really wanted to see the view from her own eyes one day

Risks and challenges
Our first challenge will be the production of the cards.
We are big on innovation so we want to try new things every steps of the way.
- We are using a ssssss-secret brand new process for the back of the cards to make them unique. As a result, we will monitor if this process delivers the quality we expect. If unable to reach the desired result we will revert back to a still-amazingly-good-looking-but-more-reliable process that will ensure satisfaction of our backers.
- We are creating a mission box with spacesuit fabric texture and colored foiled. This is also a new process and will require our attention to ensure the best quality.
- Finally we are a low volume production and have low bargaining power and low priority for production, so one of our challenges is to be able to have visibility on the completion date for the cards. But we will work closely with Lawrence from Legends Playing Cards to monitor that.
As a mitigation strategy for these production challenges we decided to allow 3 month of production in our timeline (double of a usual production) to ensure that any delay would not have a negative impact on the flight.
As production progresses we will be in a better position to coordinate with Zero 2 Infinity, our flight provider, for a tentative flight date that we will announce toward the end of the year.
Our second biggest challenge will be the flight itself.
- In partnership with Zero 2 Infinity we are designing a protective box to carry the decks and the screen on the flight. Crossing all layers of atmosphere, going from 15 degree to -70 degree through winds and maybe clouds, with a pressure almost dropping to zero, would be hard on all type of materials used for the flight (i.e. paper, screen, plexiglas...etc).
- Making the screen work perfectly, protect it from the hot of the sun, insulate from the cold of the space, avoiding reflections, are challenges that we are facing. To mitigate this risk we are in contact with the teams who have launched electronics to space, as well as relying on Zero 2 Infinity’s previous experience.
- The flight itself will be a challenge to ensure safe operation, quality of the recording and safe recovery of the payload with no damage to the precious SpaceDecks and SpaceCards.
