Frequently Asked Questions
Kickstarter works a little different than your typical online shopping experience. Once our project is fully backed and funded we will send out a survey/order form. This is the time in which you will be able to choose specific items. In early March we will begin fufilling all of the order and hopefully get them to you before the end of march! Thanks for your support!Last updated:
We choose items of clothings typically for one of two reasons: Either we feel it looks good on us, or we want to say something about ourselves. As an example you might wear a jersey for the team you support. Ok sometimes we wear sweats because it is just so comfortable!
But we want the apparel we make to say something to the people that wear it. We want to give people something to think about it as they wear it and perhaps be a little more purposeful in how they live their day.
Additionally we would like for the brand to help fund opportunities to enrich the lives of girls all over the world. Regardless of their background: race, religion.... and so on.Last updated:
Because Its one of the first things you do everyday.
You put clothes on.
So what if those clothes mean something to you? What if the meaning behind those clothes helped you to rethink your day just a little. What if it was a subtle reminder to be ok with yourself? For more study on the topic check this out...
A power lunch is a group of girls having lunch together with an adult woman. The woman is there to be a friend and mentor to this group of girls and has a list of topics and questions to discuss with this group. The topics and questions are related to the issues that teenage girls are facing. The adult women are really there just to ask questions more than anything, often times we learn best through dialogue and discussion rather than debate and dogma. Right now Kym is leading these power lunches but in the future we would love to interview, train, and empower other women to lead these conversations. All of these power lunches additionally fall under the guidance of the school counselor.
Your support for a power lunch just gives us time recruit, train, and develop curriculum for future power lunches.
Our hope is that Strong Girl Rallies will in many ways be an extended power lunch. A weekend get away for girls to have fun while discussing the issues they face.Last updated:
I dont know where with in all of our DNA code are the digits that unlock why attraction is so important to us. But even in wild life appearance is important. And yes I kinda think that it is funny that male birds are more attractive than female birds. But the bottom line attractive appearance is an undeniable part of the human nature.
There has been a movement for several years which started with the very best of intentions. It was the "Modest is Hottest" movement. Essentially it has encouraged women to cover their bodies so as to avoid inappropriate attention from men. And in some ways even more powerfully, attention from other women, because of jealousy. While the intentions are good, unfortunately for many women it leaves them with a prevailing feeling of shame.
Certainly an emphasis on attempting to be "sexy" has even greater pitfalls. So we are not advocating for sexy either.
But somewhere we have to stop the shaming; fat shaming, skinny shaming, body shaming.
One of our daughters is quite modest and we are great with that. So long as she is not in any way ashamed of her body. Our other daughter well she is a handful. So somewhere conversations have to take place with our daughters about all of this. Conversations about your sense of worth being based on your appearance. Or that the greatest thing that you have to offer this world is not found in your beauty but in the ways you love yourself and others.
So why are we selling a crop top? Because girls bodies are all different. Take my body, I am 64 inches tall (5'4"). However my inseam is 30 inches. Meaning that I have very long legs so as a result I have a very short torso. So when I wear a crop top you cant see my belly. The over all effect of me wearing a crop top is that it makes me look taller. However if your put that same top on my sister, lets just say she has a much longer torso than me. When I wear a crop top I wear high waisted pants or sometimes I wear a shirt underneath.
Some of our shirts are fitted, some are flowwy. Because we all have different bodies. Someday we hope to offer dresses, and blouses, and sweaters and all sorts of other accessories. We will leave it to you to decide what is best for you and your body.
But please, please, dont walk in shame.Last updated:
