About this project
"The first human explorers to reach the domains of the Bizaza initially only made contact with the primitive jungle tribes who live by the coast. Moving further inland they soon encountered the professional soldier caste. They called these Bizaza “Strong Spawn” because of their impressive physical size in comparison to the Bizaza commoners.
Mating outside of ones caste is forbidden and only the strongest warriors within the warrior caste gain the right to raise and initiate the youngsters into full warriors. Over the long generations of ritual warfare the caste has grown strong and dour tempered.
A proud caste, recently suffering decimation from plagues and diseases of newcomers to their lands. They have little patience for captured human slave warriors, which are exploited to bolster the forces of the Empire in this time of need, who they regard as little better than fighting animals".
"The Bizaza Guard are diverse in armour and weapon styles as each piece is hand made by skilled artisans in the temple cities, tailored to each fighter's favored weapons and warrior clan's traditional fighting secrets.
They work in teams and usually favor a mix of star-metal shields for protection and heavy close combat weapons suitable for bringing down great lizard beasts and other monsters of their jungle homelands".
This project aims to produce a set of 6 individual characterful high quality white metal miniatures from traditional hand sculpted greens.
The Bizaza Guard are scaled for 28mm/30mm gaming. Bizaza are rather tall when compared to an average sized human. The Bizaza Guard are a caste bred to be even bigger and stronger than other Bizaza, accordingly these models measure approximately 32mm up to the eye, when standing at ease.
With a good level of support we will be able to deliver more value to backers via stretch goals which will increase the utility and number of models in the set.
In the long term we hope to expand the range of Bizaza with follow up projects that will develop the background, range of warriors and characters into a complete faction.
Lord Borfulax of the Teik-Hila clan puffed his impressive throat out and let it slowly deflate with a rumbling hiss. Next to him on the stadium balcony, High Vizier Ptah-Mehu clutched his rod of office tightly and gulped.
The Lord's favourite human pet had just fallen in the large fighting pit below, and all the bulging eyes of the assembled Bizaza nobles and hangers-on were now on the corpulent ruler, waiting for his response.
Ptah-Mehu already knew what it would be. Lord Borfulax only puffed his throat so hugely when he was very, very cross. The Vizier beckoned to the sweating, blood streaked victor, a large, pale-skinned northman. "Come forward, human, and be judged."
The Vizier's voice wavered a little. He was no stranger to death, torture and deceit, that stuff was all just another day at the palace, but he always felt bad about the humans. They were so pathetic and dull, and eager to please. Mistreating them felt worse that kicking gator-pups.
The northman limped forwards, stepping over the bleeding body of the fallen pet. He stood before the royal balcony, head bowed in submission, waiting for a response.
Lord Borfulax blinked his large eyes several times, licked his eyeballs and spoke.
"Human thing, you have fought bravely and well, harumph. You have defeated my favourite and most talented pet, hurm-hrum. Your reward, hurum, will be to fight my other favourite pet, the ravening Tyrantozord. It was born with two heads, making it twice as ravenous. Begone now!"
As two burly guards dragged the kicking human away, Vizier Ptah-Mehu leaned down and murmered into Lord Borfulax's ear. "What of your pet my lord? Though grievously wounded, he lives still. We have the technology, we can-"
"Feed him to the spawnlings, harrumph! They shall dine on warrior's blood this day. Make it so..." A commotion at the balcony entrance interrupted further proceedings.
A panting swift-spawn leant on the ancient stone doorway and gasped out a message to the royal guard, who in turn whispered it to the royal secretary, who turned and whispered it to the minister of internal affairs, who deferred it to the minister of foreign affairs' secretary (whisperingly), who drafted a copy and handed it to the minister of foreign affairs herself, who deferred it back to the minister of internal affairs, who approved and sealed it with a stone-etched stamp in frog-wax, and presented it to the Low Vizier, a rotund specimen who waddled over, bowed to High Vizier Ptah-Mehu and handed him the document.
The Vizier unrolled the scroll and read it to Lord Borfulax.
"Ten dozen roast beetle eyes, a fierce cat chimes thrice. Water in the dining room, a crunchy pillow! Call your table Horace." Borfulax scowled mightly.
"Gibberish! Bring the messenger before me!"
We have a few ideas for stretch goals which will add value and utility to the basic set. Any goals unlocked will be added for FREE to the contents of a basic set of 6 models.
- 1: €2000 FREE alternate weapon options for 3 models - UNLOCKED
- 2: €2500 FREE additional model added to set
1: ALTERNATE WEAPON OPTIONS
3 of the sculpts are designed as 2 piece models, joined at the wrists to the double handed weapon.
When this stretch goal unlocks we will add some free alternate weapon hands for these 3 models.
This will extend the utility of the models as we can make some interesting options such as a musket option (liberated from the invaders), a crystal pistol artifact, single handed weapons or equipment.
2: ADDITIONAL MODEL
When this stretch goal unlocks we will add an additional sculpt to the set to bring it up to 7 models in the basic set.
The terrified swift-spawn was hauled before the officials and cast to the floor.
"Speak minion, harrumph!" Bellowed the irate ruler.
"Great and mighty one, the Ohuac-cytosiin clan have breached the ancient treaties. The temple of the Black Moon has fallen and our guardians slaughtered! Their war hosts stand ready... their numbers are great."
Borfulax's throat swelled to a titanic size. His gleaming black eyes rolled around in their sockets in bald rage.
"Insufferable! Ready the strong-spawns! Gather the shieldbearers! Hone the blades and polish the knobs! We go to war!" High Vizier Ptah-Mehu gulped so hard his head nearly disappeared down his neck.
"M..my lord, the Ohuac-cytosiin clan are g-great in number and have weapons s-s-strong in-"
"Is our clan not great, High Vizier?!" Croaked Borfulax furiously.
"T-the g-greatest my lord." "Are our weapons not ancient and mighty, aherm?"
"Y-yes my Lord but if you just take a m-moment to consider-"
"I NEED NOT MOMENTS! READY MY ARMIES AND PREPARE FOR WAR!"
Risks and challenges
This project is our first KS, so we have made it small and straight forward to minimise any potential for issues.
Once the full set of 6 models are completed along with any achieved stretch goals, they will be sent via insured and tracked mail to Pete Brown (The Mouldmaker) to be master cast and have production moulds made.
We have managed sculpting, production and delivery of our models before in private commission group projects for approximately 60 customers at a time and are therefore confident that we can professionally deliver a top quality product to you.
We don't anticipate any delays on the schedule but in the event of anything coming up we will keep you informed via Kickstarter updates.
