I'm making a four issue comic book mini-series called SINTHETIC. Its a fast paced industrial sci-fi adventure. We want to explore man kinds role in the universe, and we ask the question, "Is humanity just another resource to be used". The story takes place 500 years in the future, the Earth is a barren wasteland where cyborgs rule the planet. A small band of humans must challenge the course that mankind has taken in order to save it. Although the back drop to the story is very dire, we have little elements woven in, to keep the over all mood light. The funds raised will go towards getting issue one printed along with getting supplies so i can create the backer rewards. while our main focus will be digital downloads, we need printed copies to distribute regionally (we'll also mail out the printed copies upon request).
Risks and challenges
making a completely new comic has many challenges. least of which is actually sitting down and making the comic. Characters and the world they live in have to be designed, then its putting it all together into a cohesive story, followed by drawing it all out. it can be a bit overwhelming at times but when i'm passionate about completing a project i'm all in and devoted to seeing it finished. i've done comic related work in the past (a four page story in Ron Fortier's "tales of the macabre" and another 4 page comic story in our local paper THE WEEKLY SURGE). We already have 2 completed issues of Sinthetic (48 pages of story with two, full color, covers) ready for publishing. and work is progressing nicely on the third. We've got lots of enthusiasm regarding this project and have even received a couple pieces of fan art. Set backs are a part of life, i ran a small business print shop for 8 years, where i learned how to overcome challenges of all kinds and learned how to handle the pressures of business. For printing the book we'll be at the mercy of the internet. i've tried local printers but i've had no luck in finding one that can do it on a our small budget. The next biggest issue we'll face is getting our backers their rewards, unfortunately we won't be able produce a couple of the backer rewards (like shirts and the silkscreen prints) until funds are released so we can purchase the supplies. Art works and stickers are completed and will be sent out as soon as funds are released.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
