Update #1 - Beth's Theme

Update #2 - Flik Plays Labyrinthine Dreams

Update #3 - We're Almost There

We're hoping to raise enough funds to pay for major artistic enhancements to Labyrinthine Dreams, our short puzzle game about a woman facing her own mortality as she wanders through mazes in her dreams. We completed the foundation of this game, its story and gameplay. However, the graphics we have been using are not adequate for the immersive, dreamlike atmosphere we envisioned for the game. To achieve that goal, we will need to hire at least one artist, if not multiple artists, and the amount of work involves means this won't be cheap.

Once the game's art is ready, we hope to begin a career as professional game developers and sell this new version of Labyrinthine Dreams. We expect a portion of the money will be used to handle the business side of this, including various fees and perhaps marketing costs. We have a reputation among those familiar with our work for perseverance, exemplified by the completion of our 30+ hour RPG, Master of the Wind. We fully intend to complete our ambitious goals with this project as well...if we can earn your support.

Risks and challenges

When it comes to making games, art has always been the most difficult part of the package. We have no problem coming up with stories or fun gameplay mechanics, but we inevitably have to turn to others for artistic needs. We have been lucky in the past to have our friends contribute some art, but the work needed to take Labyrinthine Dreams to the commercial level is not something we can ask an artist to provide for free. The risk involved with this arrangement is that it is essentially putting the project's future in the hands of an artist. We can advise and monitor the progress but if the artist decides to give up on the project or takes an unduly long time, we're hit with a setback that we can't do much about and are forced to go back to the drawing board. We would like to think that paying someone for the work would ensure its completion, but collaborator mishaps are always possible.
