About this project
Thank you for visiting my kickstarter page, get a free download of "Hold on to that Dream" by clicking the link above!
My name is Rachel VanSlyke. Since recording my debut album in 2007 with TSR Records, I’ve toured around the country playing music shows and writing new songs. I have found that we are extremely encouraged and lifted by the help of others, and I am more surprised everyday by the power of ideas and dreams.
In the spring of 2008, I did a 4,100 mile 24 concert tour on a bicycle from Davie FL zigzagging all the way up to Canada, solo self-supported. Needless to say I have many new songs inspired by these travels that I would really like to share everyone.
So I’ve decided it’s time to BELIEVE that this can really happen, and I found kickstarter.com to be an excellent way to do it! I’m asking all of you to help to make this possible. One of the most important ways you can help is to share the message and pass it along to friends and family. Every little bit helps and there isn’t an amount too small. The way it works? You can make any pledge you choose and it does not actually charge you unless the entire goal is met by the deadline. In return you will get neat prizes and KNOW that you have thought outside of the box and helped someone do something INCREDIBLE! I could not do it with out you.
I’ve put together some interesting prizes (to the right) and gifts to show my appreciation. It works on pyramid, so depending on how much you pledge you will get every prize leading up to that amount in addition to the prize for that amount. I’ve even thought out a way to do some of my tour next year on a bicycle. If you are interested in being a sponsor, please contact me for further details. I will use a charity of your choice, or your company/ organization logo on my vehicle for the entire year including any portion done on bicycle. This has to be discussed first, as I would want to make sure it would be a good fit.
Demos of songs that will be on the album have all ready received some awards. “I’m comin home”, placed “Winner in Folk” for Feb. 2009 Song of the Year songwriting contest, as well put in the “Winner’s Circle” for the Windows Playlist 7 contest. There will be more details to come about the musicians helping on the album and the opportunities that all ready are in the works.
Oh yeah, and I’d like all of your ideas on what to name the album – you can click on the comment tab and leave some of your beautiful titles and ideas. I will be picking from your suggestions!
By believing in this project, we can make it happen!
