OUR STORY
As many small food business, Brigadeiro Bakery bloomed from Chef Mariana Vieira's kitchen. Selling Brigadeiros first to friends, then to friends of friends; friends of friends of friends and total strangers, who just tried those decadent chocolate balls, soon the business took over her whole apartment.
After considering moving the business from a tiny Brooklyn apartment kitchen to a rented commercial kitchen, serendipity crossed Mariana's way. Chef (and friend) Felipe Donelly, had recently opened Comodo and offered Brigadeiro Bakery to move in into their basement.
It was a simple deal: Brigadeiro Bakery would use Comodo's basement in exchange of Brigadeiros for Comodo's diners. And for that day on Brigadeiro Bakery started paying rent in chocolate.
Two years later, serendipity crossed Brigadeiro Bakery's way one more time. Just a block away from Comodo, a small storefront became available and will become Brigadeiro Bakery's new home.
Brigadeiro Bakery offers the best Brigadeiros someone can ever find and established a consistent clientele. From catering to birthday parties to weddings and corporate events, Brigadeiro Bakery was able to grow relationships with clients such as Havaianas, Macy's, Elie Tahari, Food Network, Globo, Spotify, among others.
In 2014 Brigadeiro Bakery also partnered with Restaurant Associates, one of the largest caterers in New York; and Caviar a curated food delivery service that brings to your door the most interesting food in the city.
WHAT ARE BRIGADEIROS?
Brigadeiros are truffle-size chocolate balls made simply with condensed milk, butter, and chocolate. They gained popularity in the 1940’s in Brazil and have enjoyed a cult following ever since.
Like many nostalgic treats in America, Brigadeiros bring back fond childhood memories for Brazilians. They make us smile just looking at them, in all their simplicity.
While they are occasionally prepared with adulthood (pistachio, cocoa nibs) don't be fooled, at its center is just pure deliciousness, the type that doesn't need to be analyzed; just enjoyed. Brigadeiro Bakery is here to tell the story of these lovable chocolate balls. Our mission is to share the love of Brigadeiros with New York and beyond.
The lease is secured and renovations are under way. We just need a last push to finalize the project and equip the place properly. Your support would mean a lot to us.

WHY WE ARE IN KICKSTARTER
We leased a small space in Soho, NY. We are in the middle of renovations and there's still a lot of work to be done before we open. From building a kitchen, to buying equipment, renovations and decorating. We have secured most part of the money but we need your help to bring the project to full completion.
The Kickstarter funds are key for the success of our business. Not only will they provide us with the capital necessary to complete the project, but will also show us the dedicated and supportive community behind this business. It's because of our wonderful customers that we decided to build a home for Brigadeiro Bakery.
The funds raised through Kickstarter will be used to help cover construction costs and buy equipment for the store. Our stated goal is $20,000 but any money we raise over the goal will be reinvested in the store to make Brigadeiros Bakery better, welcoming feels like home.

Risks and challenges
Projects of this scope will always present challenges: city permits, renovations, staff etc. But we're prepared to overcome any of them.
