Since day one of our journey, The Campground has always been about camaraderie and community. We've hosted countless guests from around the country and complete strangers from as far away as Cologne, Germany. Entertaining and hospitality have always been of paramount importance to us. We want to take our concept of The Campground from our private backyard shed to a 400 square foot public storefront on a burgeoning corner of Westport Road and Main Street in the heart of Midtown, Kansas City. This will allow us to both accommodate a larger capacity of guests and operate on a regularly scheduled basis.
Some questions you may have:
"Why open a beer and cocktail establishment?"
We want to open an establishment where which we would want to drink, often. Craft beer has always been our common ground, but cocktails are our passion. Our intention is to have well-curated offerings, focusing mainly on sours and various other high gravity beers, as well as a frequently rotating cocktail list primarily utilizing fortified wines and amari. Our cocktails have always been classified as both bold and flavorful, that "...it feels like The Campground." We will not let up on this sentiment.
"Who the hell do you think you are by doing this?"
We're comfortable with who we are and what we've become and the direction we want to go. We may not have the most experience or knowledge- and we'll be the first to admit that-, but what we do have is an unflinching desire to succeed and an unquenchable urge to learn and evolve. Our move is not about one upmanship, rather a contribution to both the local community and the industry at large. We promise that we will do our forefathers justice.
"What makes you think you're qualified?"
We've provided bartender and cocktail catering services for large outside events and have been entertaining out of our backyard shed since 2011. Our business has come to a crossroads, as it's either shit or get off the pot. We are ready for the next step. The Campground has acted as our proving ground to figure out what works and what doesn't; we've honed in on our identity; we've garnered a loyal contingent of supporters; and, most importantly, we are passionate and excited about what we do. We're not trying to be something we're not; nor are our motives based on pretension. We're pursuing this because we have a burning desire to serve and make others happy.
With your support in helping fund our dream, we will have a great start on the resources needed for our space, licensing, and materials required to be fully operational. We sought out Kickstarter because The Campground is a community, and we would like you all to be a part of our growing process. Whether or not you chose to support us monetarily, we thank you for your time.
Risks and challenges
We expect to have obstacles in our future, as life wouldn't be what it is without hardships and failures. Our most impressive challenge will be properly translating our hospitality concept from our private backyard shed to a public storefront in Midtown, Kansas City. Conversely, this provides us a opportunity to fulfill our dream by creating a truly unique space to put forth to our guests. Fortunately, we have VERY talented friends and family with experience in various fields. We will rely heavily on those folks for help on the design and production of our concept and to hold us accountable to meet our projected deadlines.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
